I would be replacing a Hunter box that controls my central AC and heater system. Still easy?
OK I looked at my current manual and it looks easy. Seems to get the $200 discount your have to authorize renewhome to access your utility account data. Also seems the themorstat will be set to dictate power usage during "rush hours"? I don't turn on any AC nor heater unless absolutely necessary. Will control of the thermostat by renewhome override my decisions? This would be serious issue IMO. I dont wnat to override them either daily. What to do? Buy or pass?

Just went and bought one. I had one in my old house, but I think that the old $250 price tag was a little steep for what it actually did. I like the $50 price. This way I can come home and have it nice and warm before I arrive home.

Looks like this is the old model. No discount on the new iteration? What is a C wire for?
We bought a house with a Nest, didn't think much about it. A month into living there, the thermostat was offline in the morning. It then said it needed to shut down to conserve power.
Turned out, they never used a C wire. Alternatively, I can pull the thermostat off the wall and plug into mini-USB for 45 minutes to get a full charge.
I just ordered a new Gen 4 Nest because it's advertised to not require a C wire. Hopefully this works better overall.
Super easy. Technically you also need a c wire but I have been using mine for years without one.
How does it work without the C wire? I haven't upgraded my regular old thermostat because I don't have the C wire, you saying this one will work without it just new two wires?!
