Go with Ecobee, thank me later. I switched from Nest to Ecobee and couldn't be happier. Nest wasn't that great because the AC would kick on unnecessarily, wasting energy. Ecobee has a built-in feature where it can offset the temperature by one or two degrees before turning on the AC or heater, making it much more efficient.

Also those in Georgia - Georgia Power Specifically they have fantastic deals on Ecobee.

ecobee3 lite - $25
ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced - $40
ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium - $55
Once you buy your thermostat and install it - you can just call your utility company and ask them to unenroll you from the rush hour rewards program, which they are obligated to do if you ask them to. They will then remove you from the program but you'll get to keep your thermostat.

That prevents you from having to opt out each time and this works for all thermostats and not just nest. I worked for a utility that had one of these programs a few years ago.

What is the trick for the rush hour rewards if you want to snag this but don't want them controlling your AC during hot summers?

Any trick to acquiring one of these with a rebate if you fall outside of the territory of the eligible marketplaces?

I had a smart thermostat in Arizona, the heat in Arizona made it useless for the utility rebate because it got too hot when the utility controlled it.

Adding a comment for Oregon. If you're with the electric company for 20 + years and got a similar rebate for a better thermostat 15 years ago…. You get one rebate lol

My company's offer is a 4th gen plus sensor for $180. Is that even a deal?

Ameren Illinois gives you a free smart socket to go with the free Nest, and both ship for free.

Google Nest Thermostat Snow description reads, "Thermostat settings only adjustable when Wi-Fi connection is active..."

So, I'll have zero control to change the temperature when it WiFi is out? There's no possibility to manually change the temp?

Purchased back in September before the increased rebate. Anyone know if GA Power will process price adjustment or if they'll accept returns beyond 30 days?

No, my WiFi is out as I type this (using mobile) and I can still manually swipe the temperature up and down. It just has an error message about wifi that you have to dismiss.
