Great deal from an official vendor, ideal for new, free-only, and later players to get near-full access to years of content.

If preferring the Steam eco-system, gg.deals has 2nd-tier "keyshops" for a bit more. CDkeys has been easy transactions for me (YMMV) currently at $13.99. Refer to game forum advice on keyshops to understand the risks.

Steam _was selling for $17.49. I don't see this package going up in price, so if not ready to join your veteran buddy to slay dungeons, Bungie needs money enough to keep this price sellable.

From the original developers of Halo, it's easy to claim it's the best-feedback feeling shooter out there. While other games have way more realistic physics/death (ballistics/one-shot), the combat is more accessible/forgiving, with the best summation/combo of weapon/ability-powers combat and magical explosive visual eye-candy that's complex enough blending/interaction as to not seem redundant.

Critics (most fans) say its 7-10 years of improvements have complicated the new/returning player experience, especially in the efficiency/sequence/tradeoffs in ranking, resource gathering, selecting mods, based on which of the many vendors/activities. While the campaigns and random-teamed strikes are easily available to solo PVE (enemy-AI, not multiplayer) players, there is no solo path to some of the rewards/ranks. That might change in 2025.

While not fully MMO, the licensed mobile gacha game, Destiny:Rising, will be closer to an MMO.

Not even counting the Blue weapons, there are 566 distinct weapons, where each one can be customized to over 2M combinations of perks (mods). That's not counting armor customizations.

Veterans say it's painstakingly repetitive. While the opinion is from the perspective of playing 8000+ hours, the multiplayer competitiveness does result in needing to farm/grind for the latest god weapons/armor perk/mod (randomly dropped) rolls. Because of "power creep", even PVE activities have increased the amount of spawned enemies or unfavorable "modifiers".

While I guess there are fewer (campaign / solo PVE) completionists, I saw several sites/posts with massive spreadsheets to find/locate _every single achievement/item_.

I try others. Halo / Destiny are the only ones where you feel "connected" to your ability and weapon- it's firing, it's impact- just overall, the subtle timing of the audible/visual effects cues (and vibration on consoles/controllers). And even if that can be matched, there's all the other world of stuff.

Edit: Qualified veteran players's criticism of "repetitiveness" a bit - for a new player, and when the game compels grinding.

So this gives you everything to full enjoy Destiny 2? I thought I read somewhere a while back they took a lot of stuff out and the game was kind of a joke

I have been playing D1 on Series X for 5 months and love it! Would love to jump into D2 but not sure on what I get when buying

I've got about 3,000 hours into D2 over the last 5-6 years, and really love it as a "casual player". The stuff you are getting in this pack for only $10 is pretty awesome, and you're going to easily get your moneys' worth. That said, it is still missing some newer content. From what I can tell, you're missing the last five dungeons, plus all Final Shape expansion content from last year. That said, if you make it all the way through the content in this pack and you are still enjoying yourself, then it would be easy to justify the cost to get the more recent content IMO.

Bungie describes what older campaigns were removed and placed into the DCV - Destiny Content Vault:
https://www.bungie.net/en/Guide/dcv

Shadowkeep, Beyond Light (unlock full Stasis), Witch Queen, and Lightfall (unlock Strand easily)- are all playable from start to finish.

There's daily/weekly bounties across several planets, plus all the other activities. Scroll down to the seasons available to you:
todayindestiny.com

This 2024 Legacy Collection includes the dungeon (keys) for Shadowkeep and the 30th Anniversary Pack, but not Witch Queen or Lightfall.

FYI, all dungeons require you to belong to a "fireteam". If you're a social player, Bungie has an official "fireteam finder". But there are lots out there- google "sites find destiny groups OR fireteam OR LFG".

A little more description is here. I say "little", because adding more detail all at once- for new / returning players- just gets complicated fast. There are good YT videos to help understand/catch-up, too:
https://www.dexerto.com/destiny/a...c-1640644/

When you decide to start Destiny2 and begin to fill your inventory with purple (Legendary) weapons / armor, and ready to begin the "daily grind", there are _very useful websites to get you organized and help make decisions. Just google "best websites for Destiny 2".

If you really like the play/content, you have the option to skip directly to (and to buy) the Final Shape earlier, which unlocks you the Prismatic ability (sub-class) early in its campaign missions. The advantage of prismatic is you can have parts of Stasis abilities without having to complete the Beyond Light campaign.

By the time you buy Final Shape, it should be a better deal to get the bundle, "Destiny 2: The Final Shape + Annual Pass (PC)".

In case you haven't seen this wiki, I posted a deal on the MS PC bundle "The Final Shape + Annual Pass" for $49.99:

https://slickdeals.net/f/17895018-destiny-2-the-final-shape-annual-pass-pc-49-99-from-microsoft-ends-in-16-days

Buying both "should" get you caught up through Spring 2025, at least until the codename:Apollo expansion comes out (projected Summer 2025). But as the affects of the layoffs at Bungie start to strain 2025 schedules, I wouldn't blindly pre-order anything after Final Shape/Annual until I get updated scoops on Bungie's development / roadmap status.

I also started on Xbox, then moved to Steam (which is different than these deals on the Microsoft Store).

Please refer to this deal's wiki (near the top of page)- I gave caveats on how "Silver" is isolated to its platform, and the Bungie help link for installation also talks a little about cross (platform) saves/play/spend.
Plus a link to my deal post on the current "episode" (was "season"), "The Final Shape + Annual Pass".
