Proprietary power supply, motherboard and case, this is e-waste, once warranty is over your days are counted, also we as a community should stop supporting this kind of products.

According to this thread, the i5-14400F could end up being Alder Lake or Raptor Lake silicon. You should be able to run a command to check which one. With the latest patches and the likelihood that it's not going to be overvolted in some cheap OEM prebuilt, it's probably not a big deal.

They also have a cheaper priced HP Victus 15L desktop computer for $439 with Ryzen 5 5600G, 8GB of ram, and RX6400 graphics card. https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp...#techSpecs This the same exact computer they had at WalMart during Christmas 2022 for $499. Would this still be a good deal or no?

You'd want to upgrade the RAM, but not a bad price.

Edit: To be clear, the price of the RAM upgrade from HP is awful-- you'll want at least 16GB of DDR4, which should cost around $30 or less from someplace like NewEgg or Amazon. You may need to do a little research to make sure they fit if they're not low profile DIMMs, depending on the layout inside the case.

They're both borderline overpowered for productivity to well-equipped for certain light gaming applications. Your needs will determine the value (for certain use cases the selection of CPU is critical). The pricing is solid, if not some exceptionally slick deal. Of course, truly beating this deal's value is really in the domain of refurbished systems and/or would depend upon some amount of DIY.

Good luck!

They charge $60 for the extra 8GB of Ram and $60 for 512GB SSD which then would increase the price to $579. HP has another deal for $579 where with this Victus 15L computer they include the 16GB of ram, 512GB SSD, and 350W gold power supply. https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp...tg02-0025m For the price that doesn't seem like such a bad deal. The Ryzen 5600G is still pretty good processor despite being three years old.

$579 isn't really a particularly good price anymore, though. If you get the base config and swap out your own components, it's not bad. You can get the RAM and SSD for much cheaper than $120, though if you want the 512GB SSD boot drive, it might almost be worth the money to avoid having to install your own OS. Might want to see if the system has a free NVMe slot to add a second fast SSD.
