This seems like an incredible price. I am looking for a model that can handle loaves of bread and pasta making. My old 5-qt tilt head Artisan isn't powerful enough to handle some of the tougher jobs.

I am realizing that this model (600 series) has been discontinued by KitchenAid and replaced with the larger 7qt model.

Does anyone have experience with this model that can comment on the ability to handle bread making?
I have this model. No problem kneading a big batch of pizza dough. Metal gears. Great price.

Have it and use it for bread making (sandwich loaf mainly, not artisanal.) It kneads 9 cups of flour easily although my motor will get noticeably warm after 5 minutes of kneading. No wobbling here like I used to get with the tilt head KA. Use it every month for several years now and still runs like a champ.
As for your mixer slowing down. Take a look at the Mr. Mixer channel on YouTube. He shows how these things need re-greasing and can be like new. He also has tuning fixes for some of the annoying attributes that get designed into certain models… unless of course you want a newer model with different problems.

That's a great price. I have I tilt head that i basically use for cookies twice a month. Kitcheaids are build like tanks mine is 15 years old and still works as good as the day i got it. I replaced every other small appliance in my kitchen at least once since i bought it and it gets way more miles them my blender..
To say that Kitchenaids are "built like tanks" really doesn't hold true anymore. It may seem so for those that don't know or see 'what's under the hood' regarding the internal working parts of the mixer, which Kitchenaid has made numerous cuts and downgrades to the power and quality of most of their models over the years.

The Pro-line mixers used to come with 1.3 HP DC motors, which were very powerful and ultra-quiet but now even the pro-line are downgraded to 500 to 575 watt AC motors that produce incredibly more noise while producing less than 1/2 the output power of the former DC motors.
Kitchenaid also made numerous other downgrades or eliminations such as eliminating the planetary shaft spring/washer and cheapening several other parts.

Kitchenaid has known for years about the issues with their cheaper included 'coated' paddles & dough hooks having the coating chip off, oftentimes while in use, yet it appears Kitchenaid simply doesn't care. I personally wouldn't buy a mixer or use it without the stainless steel paddles & dough hook.

Thank you for sharing. Which brand and model you'd suggest that's better built these days with steel paddles and dough hook. Would much appreciate.

With Kitchenaid no longer producing the 1.3 HP DC motors for their pro mixers, it leaves no choices for me to answer that question.
Kitchenaid had always been my 'go to' mixer brand, but without the DC motor it now draws no interest from me. Most models will be fine for general mixing/baking needs, but for full capacity constant bread dough mixing, I'd really want the DC motor for the significant added power, longevity, endurance and lower noise level.

You really don't get it and ones like you are the reason that companies take a nicely built home kitchen (Note: HOME kitchen, not business) appliance and they make continuous and even drastic cuts to the power, quality. performance, & longevity of that HOME appliance, simply because ones like you couldn't care less if they are fleeced.

The mixer was built for HOME use for many years when it came with the DC motor, so if you want a toy mixer then you should go out and buy an Easy-Bake light bulb oven to go with it.

Hi whats kpa and ksm?
Read the model number starting with KPA or KSM. what I know KPA is older and discontinued model after having issues and replaced with KSM. One more thing, I read KPA can be repaired cheaply vs KSM. I see almost everywhere you are gonna find KSM and even Costco sells KSM. Their refurbished ones comes as RKSM as R denotes Refurbished.

lol. it's capitalism. free market.

you're free to make a mixer like they did in the old days.

these are plenty for home use.

We had a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, I think it was 6qt, 600W. I destroyed it by leaving it near a bottle of caustic chemicals (yes, it's a long story). Now we have a lift-stand mixer like this one. It does the job (I use it for dough, and shredding meats), but I preferred the convenience of the tilt stand, FWIW.

We've had this one for about 7 years. It's still a chore to get the bowl on properly quickly.

I'd like to jump on this deal. But I don't have BJ's membership. Seems like it's $55 now, $20 deal is expired. Still cheaper than Costco deal @ $300. Decisions…
