Nah, this is not one of those type items. It's still an arm processor which still has compatibility issues and will continue to drop in price as more lunar lake laptops come out. Most snapdragon x laptops will be 600 or less by January is my prediction.

I see USB 4 but also the snapdragon chip. Does anyone know if this will work with an eGPU? The USB should, but the processor gives me pause...
Wouldn't recommend this for games. The CPU is awesome, but games aren't built for ARM64. Native apps run amazingly well.

I love my SP7+, but battery life sucks! ARM is a good idea, but a lot of software still cannot be used.
Like what? I dont have a single non-native app on my device.

So far I have seen a few times where the video glitched while I am watching YouTube. The sound also glitched out a few times. Will check for more updates. The machine did do a lot of updates on first boot which is a windows annoying "feature"

Fixed itself after maybe 5 seconds but it did happen like 3 times. lol. Hopefully nothing terrible later on

Did everyone forget?

2019 surface pro x running arm-based SQ1 cpu, soon dumped as open-boxes cheap at BestBuy 50%+ off.

Then Surface Pro X running sq2 was released, ditto - dirt cheap open boxes at BestBuy.

SP9 arm, and now SP11 SnapX arm.

....

These arm tablets aren't worth more than $400~ at best due to their huge incompatibility with regular X64/x86 windows apps, drivers, etc.

Ie. From 2019 until today, that's dog-dog years in computers, Microsoft STILL can't run a ton of apps and games, even VPNs on its ARM-based surfaces because it's freaking lazy or dumb in managing the compatibility emulator....despite billions of dollars in the bank and zillions of programmers.

This means - everyone buying ARM should expect incompatibility issues and NO guarantee of any support. MS simply hasn't cared much, doesn't care much if you run anything except Office, Teams, Outlook, and Edge - ie. Basic office worker tasks.

.....

If one Must buy a new Surface Pro, the Surface Pro 10 for business running a proper Intel CPU (or sp9 Intel model) are smarter choices.

This smells like someone that just watches Intel sponsored YT videos for their information. As a software dev, I feel that I use out of the ordinary apps and toolchains, and I have had zero issues getting my work done on WoA. Pretty soon Windows will have AVX and AVX2 support on Prism as well, so that will narrow the app compatibility to basically games with certain anti cheats such as EZ anti cheat.

Times have changed. Windows 11 improved things a great deal. Plenty of adobe apps are native arm64. Chrome is available now. Agree w/ games however. For most people, I dont think they'll even notice that its arm.

This chip is also nothing like the previous ones in terms of performance

You clearly havent used one, meanwhile I'm typing on one.

Keyboard and pens compatible with 8, 9 and X should work with 11 as well.
I am not sure about that. I believe New keyboard was released specifically for 11.

Larger screen, lower resolution, 30% heavier. Which one has better built quality?

Any keyboard previously released for the Surface Pro 8 and up will work with the 11. The only thing the new keyboard adds is wireless connection and a copilot key.

I actually used SQ1 ARM64. It was hot garbage and app was HOTTER garbage including no official chrome. Everything was dog slow when it comes to emulation and apps mostly sucked.

It's a hell of a lot faster now with Snapdragon and while not perfect, it's perfectly suitable for a personal computing device now.

Normie do not have app compatibility issues. If you know what you need and what's compatible you'll get the gear you need.
