That photo doesn't look like buds exploded from the inside. The case of the buds seems intact. The damage is on the outside, like they were dragged or maybe left in a hot area and they melted.
If they exploded, the case of the buds wouldn't be in one piece. And there's nothing in the ear tip that can explode.
Maybe the storage case exploded and damaged the buds, but then the story how they exploded in-ear is false.
