No you only need service for first month
4GB RAM is ok for a lower end Android phone like the A15. It is a 2024 phone so it will get at 4 years update from Samsung.
There are several tips discussed on other SD threads about how to "speed up" these phones (uninstalling unused apps, turning animation off in developer mode and setting RAMplus to zero).
The A15 is probably fine as a back up phone and you are not using multiple apps at the same time. At this low price on straight talk and unlock in 60 days, it is a good deal if you need a back up phone for cheap.
deal is long gone, sharing here to explain for other people

June 12-Oct 13 the free straight talk phone was the Moto G Power 2024 edition if you bought 1 month of silver service. Brand new phone (announced late March 2024) on the market, so new that some phones were not auto unlocking in August (60 days after) for Straight Talk forgot to install the unlock server on their end and thus people had complaints for their phones were not auto unlocking as they should. But by early September Straight Talk had fix this and phones were auto unlocking after 60 days again. My personal phone that I bought right before the sale ended should be unlocking in 32 days *so cross my fingers* (took a week and a half to ship the device, this is relevant for I am traveling in christmas so I need internet while traveling)

New Phone deal is the Samsung A15 5g above. Deal is good till Jan 5, 2025 aka a different 3 month period of this will be the straight talk phone on sale, free after 1 month service.

The A15 has less ram, and makes a horrible T-Mobile phone for it has the verizon 5g bands but not both of the two the 5g frequency bands T-Mobile uses (4g should still work though, and it has one of the two main 5g bands.) Frequency Bands for AT&T it has some of the 5g and 4g bands but not all that carrier uses, but also AT&T has a white list problem where only certain phone models work on AT&T and I do not know if this phone works on AT&T due to that whitelist or not.

Good Luck

Shouldn't be a problem. Just stick the AT&T sim card after the phone has been unlocked.

However, I think AT&T is one of the few companies that has a specific white list of phones that are accepted onto AT&T at first time of SIM activation (i.e. you can only activate an AT&T sim plan if you provide an AT&T approved white listed phone - ones they sell for AT&T service including AT&T MVNOs I believe). However once the sim is activated you can move the sim card to any unlocked phone without issues.

4GB ram. Not worth it.

G power 2024 was way better deal.

Also OLED screen is garbage with PWM flicker.

When I add an Iphone and the A15 to cart I only receive the Iphone discount and not the discount for the A15. The $30 silver plan does apply though.

With the two iPhones on the account, this came out to $25 for the two new lines + 2 phones. Might've just wasted some dough, but they can be used as car phones if they are bad. We keep spares in case of emergencies. There was the 1 time neither of us brought our phone to get something at the gas station and we were backed into.

Car phones are good to have. Also…. Suck it McDonald's. You can chill on my car burner phone on the rare occasion I get the craving. Haha.

Have the Moto G power 2024 5G phone (also got free). not available now for free at least on Straight Talk (the promo ran out I think). I agree the phone has 6gb and performance is quite good.

However the screen truly is abysmal. Viewing angle is so terrible, as is the contrast. Has a dull haze compared to better quality displays. Hard to imagine it is an IPS screen. Must be the lowest of the lowest for an IPS screen. You've got to see it. Really turned me off. Still a good phone if you can get it on a free promo from straight talk.

PWM flicker is for those few who have issues. The majority of folks will enjoy the OLED screen

Interesting, it seems that this deal is not advertised. I had doubts it would work but after adding it to my cart I see the same discount as you (I already have 2 silver lines on the account thanks to the ip13 deal). I'm really tempted but I just realized that this phone doesn't support eSIM which eliminates the one use case I had for it. I wonder if there are other hidden device deals on ST?

Moto G power 2024 has 8GB ram, not 6GB.

The specs of this phone are confusing. StraightTalk website says HelioG99, 128GB, 4GB.
GSMArena says Mediatek Dimensity 6100+, 128GB, 4/6/8GB device.
Samsung USA website is even worse .. no mention of processor. (just says octa core processor).

Unless I am missing anything.

Bought A15 last month for $45, added two more lines for $45.

3 A15 for $90...pretty good deal.

Dang, now I am really hesitant to pull the trigger. So you're saying there's usually only 1 "free" ST phone deal at a given time?
