4GB RAM is ok for a lower end Android phone like the A15. It is a 2024 phone so it will get at 4 years update from Samsung.
There are several tips discussed on other SD threads about how to "speed up" these phones (uninstalling unused apps, turning animation off in developer mode and setting RAMplus to zero).
The A15 is probably fine as a back up phone and you are not using multiple apps at the same time. At this low price on straight talk and unlock in 60 days, it is a good deal if you need a back up phone for cheap.

deal is long gone, sharing here to explain for other people

June 12-Oct 13 the free straight talk phone was the Moto G Power 2024 edition if you bought 1 month of silver service. Brand new phone (announced late March 2024) on the market, so new that some phones were not auto unlocking in August (60 days after) for Straight Talk forgot to install the unlock server on their end and thus people had complaints for their phones were not auto unlocking as they should. But by early September Straight Talk had fix this and phones were auto unlocking after 60 days again. My personal phone that I bought right before the sale ended should be unlocking in 32 days *so cross my fingers* (took a week and a half to ship the device, this is relevant for I am traveling in christmas so I need internet while traveling)

New Phone deal is the Samsung A15 5g above. Deal is good till Jan 5, 2025 aka a different 3 month period of this will be the straight talk phone on sale, free after 1 month service.

The A15 has less ram, and makes a horrible T-Mobile phone for it has the verizon 5g bands but not both of the two the 5g frequency bands T-Mobile uses (4g should still work though, and it has one of the two main 5g bands.) Frequency Bands for AT&T it has some of the 5g and 4g bands but not all that carrier uses, but also AT&T has a white list problem where only certain phone models work on AT&T and I do not know if this phone works on AT&T due to that whitelist or not.

Good Luck

Dang, now I am really hesitant to pull the trigger. So you're saying there's usually only 1 "free" ST phone deal at a given time?
I do not remember what the March to June special was,

not seeing any previous thread through slickdeals. A different deal website said there was a A14 5g Samsung that was April to June 9th 2024 if you bought 3 months of Silver not 1 month, aka not that great of a deal but still a free phone (likely why no one made a SD thread)

sorry to give you the hesitant factor, I was just trying to remove the confusion others had for some people were not explaining their thought process yet were still saying some of the words

Usually there's a limit of 2 - but I got 2 G Power during the summer and was able to place order for different phone last week, so don't know what time limit is. All you can do is try.

I'm thinking about getting this as an emergency phone... got the iPhone 13 a few days ago so the Silver plan is $30. One of my Chase cards has a Chase Offer for 25% cashback on Tracfone, and it appears the transaction posts as Tracfone (even though it's on the ST website) so hopefully cb will be smooth.

Thanks I appreciate you sharing this useful info. The reason I'm hesitant is because I don't really have a use for these phones. But then again, they are so cheap (2 for $25) so why not? I remember a few weeks ago people were going crazy over some cheap Android phone at Dollar General was it? I'm guessing the A15 is a much better phone. Could this phone be used for trading-in or is it not premium enough?

Not premium at all, 4gb ram is considered low quality for Android these days. Only positive is it gets several yrs of updates.

With the two iPhones on the account, this came out to $25 for the two new lines + 2 phones. Might've just wasted some dough, but they can be used as car phones if they are bad. We keep spares in case of emergencies. There was the 1 time neither of us brought our phone to get something at the gas station and we were backed into.

Car phones are good to have. Also…. Suck it McDonald's. You can chill on my car burner phone on the rare occasion I get the craving. Haha.
I also got 2 of these A15 phones for $25 + tax as I already had 2 active lines on an existing account. The silver plan for one phone was $15 and was $10 for the other. On my active lines, I paid $45 and $30 for their silver plans.

One possible benefit of these A15 phones is that they might be able to provide an extra future discount on other phones. They don't have to be activated right away. I think they just have to be activated within 1 year from what someone in a different straight talk thread had mentioned. So I'll wait on activating them in case another straight talk phone deal pops up that I'm interested in. Then I'll activate them and hope that the discounted phone plan on the future phone deal works for having multiple lines.

I also have an account with two lines active. When I try to add two of these phones I'm seeing full prices of the phone meaning $99

Good suggestion. But you would need to keep an active ST account right? Also, when I asked CS I was told there was no time limit for activating a plan, but I have my doubts.
