For chronic heartburn it is like a wonder drug....but it creates long-term issues over an extended period of use and the "rebound" when you come off of it can be intense lol.
Explain please

I'm also curious about the long-term issues.

Used this in the past. I'm off pharmaceuticals mostly, just using diet change and baking soda water for heartburn relief.

Omeprazole is hard on the kidneys for long-term use. The "rebound" is intense heartburn/GERD symptoms after coming off the medication as your body adjusts to normal digestion again. For sure it's worth researching before using, but it was great for me for about 6 months during a long bout of reflux.

curious if have used omeprazole for years on and off but when things get bad I have to also take dicyclomine. I notice a combination of stress, spicy and/or fried food, caffeine and/or alcohol will do a number on my heartburn. I have done several tests ordered by PCP but nothing is really noted. It used to be worse in my 30s when i was less self aware and it would get bad where I would need some bed rest and would have some dramatic weight loss, but as i got older i have early awareness and can usually mitigate sooner with less downtime. Has anyone ever come to a root cause through any particular test?

Currently dealing with stomach issues (gastritis, silent reflux, ect) as we speak. Stress based but I believe my gut issues started after taking antibiotics(for acne)and probably wiped out my good bacteria over time.
Alot of people are saying people with silent reflux might have LOW stomach acid so PPIs can make it worse over time because thats what PPIs do, lower ur stomach acid and then you get a rebound when you stop. Also slow motility could be a factor in causing reflux. Basically low stomach acid, slow motility (which causes SIBO, bad bacteria to grow in small intestine) causes the upper valve in the esophagus not to close properly and things move up into your throat.

Omeprazole (prilosec generic) is sold as a two week kit at walmart. I've had no issue with two week regimens for heartburn flare ups.

3 treatments is $15, mint tastes great.

Savvy people:

Send this dude a message on eBay. He has Indian Omeprazole that he sells for like $20 for 400 pills (20mg). eBay doesn't allow the listing for some reason but he'll make you a custom listing.
