Proaudiostar has G&L stuff on sale including various bass guitars. They list them as used and I have heard that other shoppers have had success with getting new or nearly new instruments here when it says used.
I would love a Kiloton or maybe a Fallout myself, but have to hold out since I am switching day jobs in a few weeks.

George Fullerton AND Leo Fender
This is the company Leo started after they sold Fender. Their Tribute series instruments are the best bang for the buck, folks don't know. I've had an ASAT (as same as Telecaster) and an S-500, and two Tributes. All top notch quality for a reasonable price.
They were so used that Pro-Audio decided to send me some new ones factory sealed in the box.
