Yeah it's steep but it's almost $600 off with the code though. I got one last year and it works well to make my own custom material blend

I have also looked at machines like this or ones that you can build yourself. I don't think it's really worth it for private use, even if you print a lot. Because the raw material is hardly cheaper than the filament itself, the cost is high and you're not guaranteed good results.
It only really makes sense if you want to produce filaments for testing or in colors that are not available to buy.
It's not worth it for recycling leftovers or producing standard PLA, PETG or ABS filament.

Also, this is just for the extruder. If you really wanted to do this, you also need the Airpath ($930) & Spooler ($3,547) or you are in for A LOT of manual work. Awesome video though, looks like a fun project!

So you need a "printer" to make stuff for your "printer" to be able to print stuff?

I can buy a ton of filament for that price. Maybe if your business relies on 3D printing en masse, it might be worth the investment.

Don't exaggerate, 2000 lbs @ $12 per roll of 2.2 pounds would cost $10,909

(only joking!)

I see no value in this. Coming from someone very involved in the industry, common filament (the only thing you have a shot at making with this) is made at such scale that you're not going to beat the price point PLUS the quality of filament you're making with this isn't anything like you're getting commercially.
