Good budget AM4 upgrade of older Ryzen systems. Even the 1st gen Ryzen (like a 1600) motherboards can probably support this with a bios upgrade. I have an el cheapo Asrock B350 board that originally had a 1700, and it's been upgraded twice and now has a 5700x.
For a brand new build, eh not sure I would go this route. Maybe something with better integrated graphics, the 5600x has none you'll need a GPU.
I was looking at picking up one of these used on ebay. They go for around $100 used if you keep an eye on auctions. For $105 shipped new from Amazon it's a no brainer. If you have an AM4 motherboard and want to do some gaming this is a very good budget option.

The best processor for integrated graphics on an AM4 build is the 5600GT but the graphics performance is pretty poor. IMO Integrated graphics are if you intend to do no gaming or to provide a stop gap if you are waiting on getting a GPU.
I upgraded my kids older b350 based 1600 system to one of these last year and it's a great upgrade, still competent if you put in the fastest ram it can handle, great 1080 performance and decent 1440 with a 3070 behind it

Yes, this is very low, more than a year ago I paid close to $200 for my 5600X and now it is only $105... big regret I do not have a time machine
Think of all the good times you had with your 5600x. I would not go back in time to not buy it. I picked it because it runs cooler, and does a good job with my gamed. edit
paired mine with a 8GB 3070 ti on 3 1080 monitors.
I'll wait for the $141 ish 5700X from Newegg that comes with 32GB ddr4 3600. Supposed to start this next Thursday. I know its Newegg and many people dislikes it.
