I've a 2700x as well and am thinking of an upgrade. How much of a performance boost did you notice in your workflows or gaming?
The boost from a 2000 series Ryzen is quite big, because they doubled the cache with the 3000 series.

5700X3D is ~$135 on aliexpress as well. It's about 20% faster than a 5700X in games.

Is that legit? I know the retailer will send me something. But how reliable is it with hardware? I've heard of graphics cards flashed with fake bioses... Which I know how to do. It's simple enough.

EDIT: Thanks for the replies.

Dumb question but will my heatsink from a stock 2300 work with 5700X? I'm not a benchmark nerd so if not, it's just easier to upgrade to the 5600X instead of buying both.
Confused if you're calling me a nerd for having an answer...Or maybe you mean that you won't be benchmarking with it? That's actually essential.

The stock cooler will fit any AM4 CPU, but make sure you get a BIOS update that supports 5000 series CPUs.

However, that cooler might not have the power for a better CPU. Since it's stock, it's tough to check the model for cooling capacity. So instead I'll ask if your case has good airflow. Does it? If not, there have been some good Hyper 212 deals lately.

In normal usage, the stock cooler will be fine. In benchmarking or heavy gaming, it will probably throttle your performance. If you've got like an RTX 3070, the cooler might limit you.

It's a tray CPU. Tray: item that is sold in bulk, usually without a retail box or accessories, directly to system builders or manufacturers, rather than being sold individually to consumers at retail stores. So yes it is legit just pick a seller with a lot of sales and reviews and don't pick a seller with 2 sales because it's $15 cheaper. CPUs also have an incredibly low failure/lemon rate which is why most aren't bothered by going this route.

Yeah there's legit ones on AliE. You just have to sort by Orders (aka qty sold) and buy from a seller that's already sold 500+ to make sure they are valid

You can get the 5700X3D for $140-150 on AliExpress, just ordered one. Upgrading from a 2600x.

Just ordered 5700X3D, can I still use my Deepcool GAMMAXX 400 cooler or do I need to get something else?

50-100$ upgrade can't be compared to a 700$ platform change upgrade. If you currently have AM4 consider getting the 5700x3d. Gamers nexus made a good point about this showing how good that cpu compares to AM5 CPUs considering that's one part upgrade at 1/3rd the cost of a platform change upgrade.
You are correct. Trying to keep up with the latest and greatest is futile

Yeah. I bought one from a seller on there that has sold thousands of them. It's legit. There's no fake BIOS equivalent for a CPU. The motherboard BIOS will tell you what chip is installed.

I've thought about upgrading my 3700X to a 5700X...the price is certainly great but I am not looking forwarding to disassembling my PC and cooler setup to make it happen 😆 Plus my 3700X still runs everything including AAA titles like a champ with a RTX 4070. AMD CPUs too good 😅
im on the same boat. im looking for motivation lol..its been like 5 years but the 3700x still going strong
