I own 2 of these, they arent bad. I like that they use Filter A which is very common.

ComEd has a $50 rebate for air purifiers that seems to apply to this. I ordered two from Costco and just submitted an online rebate form for $100.

I'll save others the legwork of locales offering rebates:

The filters are currently on sale at Amazon for $28 [amazon.com] which can be combined with the targeted Chase credit card deal to get 30% off $50 (max $15 discount) for spending 500 credit card points. Pick up 2x genuine Winix filters for under $45 dollars is a great deal if you're picking up one or more of these units.

I actually highly recommend this air purifier.

The other one I like are the Coways, and if I had to pick between the two, I'd go with this Winix (despite loving them both!)

The amount of air it moves and so quietly... Coupled with the Costco comfort of knowing I can bring it back if there would be problems (I've owned about 5 of these units for almost 2 years — zero issues)

I had a different Winix, and it started to make some constant rattling noise and I felt very burned by the brand. But these C909's totally changed my mind about the company.

tl;dr highly recommend — and I'm a big air quality nerd

Since you know a lot about air purifiers, how much of a difference can an air purifier make in preventing dust allergies?

When i went to the provided link, it states, "account holder first name, Account holder last name" Do I need to create an account with them first or is this just out your name in type of thing?

Any recommendations for similar air filters that don't produce ozone?

Plasma wave can be disabled and I believe also permanently disabled if you're willing to take it apart and disconnect a wire.
