Can this be used in conjunction with a whole home generator? Can the generator charge this up? If so that would be a game changer. One of the limitations of the whole home generator is during an extended outage even if you have a 500 gallon propane tank, that's not going to support long duration outages without being very stingy about when it would run. If you could start a generator once a day to charge that other device and then let it run your house quietly, that would be my preferred setup.

The feature (use a solar generator while charging with a fuel generator) is call Pass-Through charging, and I believe this Jackery model and the Ecoflow Deltra Pro 3/Ultra all have this feature but the Anker F3800 does not, not directly (you will need to convert your fuel generator's AC output to DC/solar input). Most whole house fuel generators don't output clean energy (not steady AC) and could fry these solar inverter/generators, so you might want to put a EG4 Chargeverter in between, which converts the fuel generator's 120/240V output into DC (up to 48V 100Amp) first. Youtube is your friend for answers.

Edit: I was going to buy two of this because it's has the best specs/price for intended use but latest review by Will Prowse (big Youtuber on DIY Solar) had a lot of app/Wifi issues, so I am looking at Delta Ultra, Delta Pro 3 or building my own.

I'm thinking about using the smart switch off label and of course at my own peril.

I have a detached garage with 6/3 AWG feeding it electrons so I should be good for 50 amps at 240v. I've done the work to calculate peak load which would be about 22amps for this little micro-grid and usually about 5-8 amps constant. My twisted and admitted dicey thinking is the power station is probably not going to draw more then 20 amps charging on top of the usual load which still puts me under the max load for the 6 AWG wire with a small amount of headroom.

I will probably throw in a 40 amp breaker so the circuit will cut well before the wire gets toasty.

I realize this is not even close to code in any country, but I welcome any thoughts on my evil plan.

Is this a good deal? In addition to backup, I Can use it for TOU but not sure if after the round trip efficiency it'd still be worth it?
