Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I bought a Katana a few years ago. I ignored all the warnings about the chassis and hinges because the specs were great and I intended to use it as a desktop replacement. Hinges snapped with less than 6 months of very light use. These things are okay desktops if you use kid gloves or just leave it open and stationary all the time. They are way too heavy and fragile (very cheap plastic) to use as a real laptop.

Does anyone know what the power limit is for this GPU?

A 4070 RTX should have 115W of power available to make full use of the GPU, but sometimes laptop makers limit the GPU to less power due to insufficient cooling in the laptop. If this laptop limits the power available to the GPU then the gaming performance will be significantly less than laptops with fully powered GPUs.

I see from the ebay listing:
Power Supply Maximum Wattage:200 watts

Usually if the GPU has a full 115W power available the power supply is closer to 330W.

From a review at rtings.com:
https://www.rtings.com/laptop/rev...15-ai-2024

Looks like it has a 105W TGP with thermal boost. Should be 80% or so of the performance of a fully powered 4070.

The FHD screen on this laptop is reviewed as dim, poor color coverage and a slow response time.

Ugh the specs and price are perfect. But based on these comments it seems like the build quality is garbage. Sigh... So close

There are other better options below this price. Check out the Asus Tuf and Dell G16 deals.

Also, is this one of those terrible 45% NTSC screens MSI loves to use? If so, yet another reason to avoid this laptop.

if you put your hands on a Katana in store... you'll know why the price is "right"... they feel as cheap as they look.

Agreed. Are these specs in anything else? (That's also maybe a bit more discrete?)
