Some reviews say the regular is a bargain for the performance but if you need the extra performance, the M4 Pro is worth the upgrade.

Like, Im a filmmaker, I own a 1TB because when im doing a job, offloading all my footage to my laptop is nice. But even with all my editing software installed, and a bunch of media sitting on my computer, Im still only at 350GB right now. And Id bet Im a 5-10% use case at best.
Also just 350GB as a filmmaker?
Are you filming with a 2003 Nokia or what?

Specific questions:
With the M3 macbook, there were some additional ports, etc with the M3 Pro/Max compared to the M3 base; that's no longer the case with the M4 MBPs, right? The base M4 has the same number of ports, SD card reader, etc with the only difference being TB4 vs TB5 and a faster chip?
Also, the base MBP can now run 2 external monitors WITH the MBP screen, correct? With the M3 MBPs, I think only the Pro/Max could do this, hence the question.
And, yes, the speakers/screen of the MBP are pushing us to go with it over the MBA.

Btw, I'm in the same exact boat as you and already pulled the trigger on the M4. When it arrives, I'm going to back up the M3, return it to Costco, and restore the backup to the M4 and hopefully pick up where I left off after migration assistant does its thing.
