I keep not pulling the trigger on 4090 desktops and then feeling upset. Is this the one, or should I hold out for a better model coming in as black friday unfolds? Happy to spend more on a better rig. Thoughts?

Waiting for 15 % cb and then I'll likely jump. Also, I think the last deal on this configuration had a discount that stacked on this making it $2300 or so, including the emailed 10% and the cb. That would be sweet if it happened again...

I was looking at this option yesterday and it only came with 32GB of RAM (same price). It's great that it went up to 64. When I see a computer with 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, I wish they gave me no ram and no SSD at a cheaper overall price. 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD I can live with. 5200MT RAM speed is on the lower end of what I want. 14900KF > 14900F. It's about a 12% performance boot according Cinebench r23 which I'd interpret with a grain of salt.
I did sign up for the 10% coupon, and got it today. It's good until Feb 24, 2025. I checked my AmEx CC and indeed there is $100 cash back (100 back on 500). Also checked my Bank of America 1,2,3 card and my Chase Amazon card and both have $100 cash back (5% up to 100), so these are ways to get the same 100 off. This is about a 3% discount. I checked out the well-known cash back site that had the 15% cash back deal on the 13th, and it looks like it has 5% cash back right now. I'm not sure how exactly the stacking works but maybe this works out to be $135 off?
So, altogether it'd be 3000 - 300 - 100 - 135 = $2465. Plus tax would be maybe $2700.
They're saying if I sign up for Dell rewards they'll give me $15 and there's a 6% rewards promotion going on. So, that's about 137.70 +15 = $152.70 ? This can be used at the Dell store. I think Dell Rewards points expire on the 15th on the 4th month that it was earned, so March 15th, 2025? Not sure what you'd use this for. Maybe discount on a monitor? SSD's on Dell looks way overpriced.
I chatted with a Dell rep and you can return the machine for free within "30 days of the invoice date."

I wish I went for this when they had the 15% CB, instead of going for that stupid Lenovo 4090 that they screwed us on. Does anyone have any idea how often they do the 15% cash back on Dell promotion? Once a year? Once a quarter?

I posted some of my thoughts so you can read that. It's good thing you didn't pull the trigger on the 4090 Lenovo. They went back on their words and increased the price by $500.
With this one, I'm a little concerned that it has 240mm AIO liquid cooling for CPU instead of 360mm. I'm sensitive to noise. Most of the reviews state that it's quiet, but 4090 and 14900KF will be generating more heat than most other models reviewed. There are a couple of reviews that say it's not the quietest on full load.
As far as future upgrades are concerned, it uses Dell's proprietary motherboard and I'm not sure if that means it cannot be switched out. The MB only has 2 RAM slots, but apparently it's difficult to make RAM run at higher speeds if you use 4 slots. We'd be restricted to upgrading to 48 x 2 = 96 GB or RAM. Assuming we can't upgrade the MB, that'd mean we can't upgrade to next gen Intel CPU. Not sure if we'll be able to upgrade the GPU to the Blackwells (5000 series?) set to be released early next year.
With regards to spending more on better rig. There's a similar spec computer deal going on at Costco for $2300 that has 4080 Super + 14900F. I think the graphics card alone, 4090 goes for about $1000 more vs 4080 S, but you'd be getting it for about $400 more, plus slightly better CPU. Both computers have 2.5Gb ethernet port. The Costco computer has WiFi 7. This computer has WiFi 6e. Costco has 2 year warranty, 90 day return. I think this one has 1 year warranty?
I chatted with a Dell sales advisor about the return policy of this machine and he said, "We have 30 days return policy from invoice date, Return shipping free of cost no restocking fee if the product and packaging are in good condition"
So, if we see something better on BF we can return it, which I admit is a bit of a pain.

Isn't this a brand that uses heat-trapping cases?

What happened with the Lenovo? I ended up cancelling my 4070tiS Alienware order during the 15% off deal because I saw the Lenovo but by the time I could order it was sold out and the Alienware sold out :/ still waiting for a deal like that to show back up.

Thank you for the incredibly detailed response. You make some great points. I really had my heart set on a 4090, though, which no Costco right now, has unfortunately. I guess I'll hold out a little longer.
