Is it just me, or do all these newegg deals feel like they've had their base prices jacked way up just so that they can say "Hey, we're giving you 50% off on this machine, isn't that great?"

That's really a pretty decent deal. The R5 5600 with that RTX 4060 is a capable combo. Tear through anything at 1080p and still do some 1440p. Cheap CPU upgrade path down the road to a 5700 X3D.

That's all merchants haha, but I was surprised how good Newegg's AI builder is, the pricing on pc components are hard to beat!

A Pre built that you actually have to put together. Read the reviews. You have to install the Gpu.

Ah, maybe it's just CA then for CEC but the help page is templated for all the other states
I heard a while back that CA was implementing something like this for high end systems like RTX 4090 but a low wattage 5600 and RTX 4060 doesn't meet that standard? lol please! This is why government is so stupid

While I agree it's odd to have to install the GPU yourself, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. Open case, remove PCI slot cover, slot GPU, plug psu cable (if applicable), close case.

I know this PC will fit my needs (and everyone else's) because the product title includes "Suitable for E-sports GameDesign and so on."

Reading/watching some of the reviews of pre-builts, the GPU is one of the items that gets damaged most in transit (or shakes loose, etc). I'm not surprised that they're having you just plug the thing in.
