They're just a collectible line. They're relatively cheap and quick to build so people like adding more to their collection as they release. Car nuts like me enjoy them. I have doubles of some where one set stays on the sealed box and another gets built and displayed.

Btw, the speed champions f40 is quite nice and the square lines of Lego work well with the real car's design. Highly recommend as that one was one of my favorites to build with its level of detail.
