I've had this for a few weeks. It's been a horrible experience: laptop freezing up (either a memory paging or CPU max issue, which is odd) and also multiple issues with the track pad driver. I plan to return this and keep an eye out for something better in this price range

I bought this laptop last month from Costco with a similar deal. I have been happy with it so far. It was the right price with decent display and decent modern mobile CPU and wireless connectivity. I use this mostly for manipulating media, mp3 and movies and web browsing and other such things. The battery is fine for maybe 5-6 hours and plenty left when I plug it in, though I am seldom doing much that would keep the CPU busy. I removed all the Acer apps I could first thing, and the bonus mcafee stuff, to get as basic windows 11 I could. I haven't had any high CPU nor lockups or any wireless disconnects. I has exceeded my expectations for what I use it for. But get the vendor adware crapware off, they use to subsize the pricing.

I bought this laptop for my kids from the Acer Recertified Store in July. It was certified refurbished but looked new. At that time, it was on sale and Acer also had an automatic discount coupon. eBay had a separate coupon so I paid about $492 with free shipping. This same situation happened again several months ago. It may happen again if you are willing to wait.

I went to check it out at my local Costco and was told they took it off display because they had 2 consecutive display models crap out in short order (couple months) with some kind of irrecoverable issues. So now they are awaiting management decision as to whether to continue displaying/retailing it, at least at this store.

Not a good sign for quality/reliability of this model, just a data point

Is ACER a reliable brand?
Check out the microcenter deal for the Surface Laptop 7. Solid build quality and incredible battery life for 799. Terrific deal. Should note that the SL7 isn't made for gaming and there could be some compatibility issues due to the Arm chip, but for most stuff, she should be fine

I have 3K OLED version of this laptop. Build quality on this one is really nice, performance is really great too. iGPU is decent too. Trackpad and keyboard are good to use.
Two downsides as I see:
  1. Fan noise. It kicks in event when it is doing nothing but charging.
  2. Web cam has no IR, so windows hello. Finger print works. I would have preferred other way around.
