This is kinda the issue with people and motherboards - they buy overkill MBs.

I do a lot with my PCs, I have literally never needed more than 2 RAM slots.

If you are sure you need more than 2 RAM slots, great info.

However, 80% of people looking at this really don't need anymore slots. Get a good dual RAM kit and you are all set.

Excellent budget motherboard but lacks Wi-Fi and (A)RGB headers. A long-time favorite mATX motherboard of Hardware Unboxed.

Thanks for that.

Im conflicted....techically this checks all the boxes i'd need (2.5g lan, m.2 support.....) but i've never gone with B series boards....never been a overclocker, but its always liked the features of the non-B boards.

My FIL needs a new computer, maybe i'll give myself an upgrade and give him my 3900x system.

Buy a cheaper mobo with the features you actually need and put the money saved towards a better GPU.

The X series chipsets usually only offer options that few people ever really need. B series is fine for the vast majority of users.

I have the B650M Pro RS WiFi MOBO on my parts list for a PC build I'm hoping to get this holiday season. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two and if it's worth saving $30 with this deal here? I'm planning to get the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 4.7 GHz CPU deal in a few days for the build.

See the YouTube link I posted earlier.

The Pro RS performs nearly identical to the HDV/m.2, but includes Wi-Fi, ARGB, and RGB headers. If those are important to you then it's worth the extra money.

While the HDV/m 2 lacks Wi-Fi, it does have an m.2 Wi-Fi slot, so you can add Wi-Fi without losing the PCI-e slot or using an external USB adapter. Even has the holes for the antennas in the I/O shield. Just be sure to install the Wi-Fi before you put the motherboard in the case or you'll have a bad time.

Yeah. Unless you need more memory right now that can be accomplished with 2 RAM sticks or a 4 stick set is noticeably cheaper I expect most people will never use all 4 slots. Sure. You could upgrade in the future to add more memory but most people don't bother. There generally doesn't seem to be a price benefit for going with 4x 16 for 64gb vs 2x 32 so at this point I'd say unless you need > 64gb on a new system you really probably don't need more than the 2 DIMM slots this board provides. 16gb or 32gb is probably plenty for most people so 64gb being practical on this board doesn't really seem like a problem for the vast majority of people. Maybe in the earlier days of DDR4 it would have been a bigger problem where the higher capacity DIMMs either didn't exist or had a lot more of a price premium but at this point that isn't the case.

Also from a performance perspective having 4 DIMMs makes it harder to handle higher clock speeds and even having the extra empty slots can impact your max memory overclock speed so unless you know you will really need 4 DIMMs for capacity 2 DIMM slots does have some advantages.

Need deal on mini-ITX and preferably AM4, but I'll take AM5. Sadly, I cannot ever find deals on them. I've even lowered my standards.
