Terrible display. Why do they have to ruin it like that

Genuine question. Why is it so bad of a screen? I assumed IPS was good? Or is it the aspect ratio?

A comment like "Terrible display" feels subjective. I would find it more helpful if you criticized the actual specs and gave a preferred option at this price point or a price point at which you would find these specs acceptable.

250 nits of brightness is below the standard of 300 nits and is only bright enough for use in dimmer environments. This may be OK for you if you intend to use an external monitor.

I think it's the 250 nits people complain about the most. (Not a very bright display.)

I need a laptop to just stash away in a drawer because I use external display, keyboard etc. will this work or will it overheat? Thinking of combing this with the amex code for a further $50 off

This will be great for your use case.. 8840u is very capable and if you dont mind the lack of touch screen, go for it. This has 780m which on the GPU side is capable too.

Most people don't know if the display is good or not so someone will buy it.

Also anything under 300 nits will be dim at the slightest of angles.

16:10 is sexy. Easy fix too. 50 bucks for an improved panel that takes 10min to swap. Luckily the RAM is swappable too. The biggest issue is 16GB of RAM is effectively ewaste these days.

Thanks for posting this OP Smilie

I'm not sure if this applies or not or if this is a "7610" model like they talk about in the dell forum (or if it's not 7610 if this would still apply) but

https://www.dell.com/community/en...a8ded4bc12

to be clear despite the OP's complaint there are people who are insisting it is in fact upgradeable.. though I don't know if I personally would feel that comfortable using tape to hold a second m2 drive in place like they talk about in the comments Stick Out Tongue .. but I tend to be paranoid to begin with for all I know it might work fine?

No, it's because you expect $1k value in a $500 package. I guess you never link a better screen for the same price, do you? laugh out loud
