This Ecoflow system is meant as off-grid setup. It is portable so you can bring to other places. It has most of the outlet available for almost any electronics/appliances. And it can be used as home backup system (like a gas powered generator) but you will need to have to install a transfer switch. A transfer switch essentially disconnected you from grid (during power outage) and connect your whole home with this Ecoflow system.
I've been considering solar for my parents' house (although I wish I could get those mini wind turbines). What I can't figure out is if I can get this now with automated transfer switch, and then install solar. I'm assuming that solar would power the battery, and any excess would go to the power grid (except in case of an outage).
In our part of the country, electricity ranges between 20 - 27.5 cents/kwh. Average utility bill is $500, with the majority going to electric. In the cooler months, it's roughly a 50/50 split with gas. IIRC, solar panels that would cover the electric usage would be about $17k, installation included. Roofing is roughly 12 years old.
Thank you for any guidance.
edit: I guess I'm essentially asking the same question, but in a different way (no existing install, so no potential compatibility issues). Also, sorry for formatting issues.
