at 2x the price sure
I did, last night. It hurts, but 2x the memory, faster chip, and the access to the Apple Pencil Pro (wireless charging) made it worth it. It hurt though.

Is the Air M2 worth twice the price?
Depends on needs. The 10.9 has limitation on the apple pencil and the older chip as well. If you only use it for basic web browsing, it should be fine. It is amazing how fast GB of data get filled up these days.

For kids, the Amazon Fire HD 10 works perfectly and can be had for $75 during their frequent sales. There's a huge app selection for kids and it is very easy creating a child profile. I think an iPad is overkill for anyone 10 and younger.

Amazon also gives a 20% discount if you trade in an older Amazon device so we basically upgrade the Fire tablets to the newest ones whenever there is a sale. The trade-in value for the old device combined with the 20% discount on the new device that is on sale makes it very cost-friendly to have the latest model every 2 years. I think I got $30 for my old Tablet and 20% discount on $75 made it a $30 upgrade.

The only caveat is that Fire tablets are slow to begin with so you need to upgrade them every few years.
Yah we do have the fire 8 I think. Very disappointed with it. Found it hard to install the apps my kids wanted or to watch the content my kids wanted to watch. Would revisit it and try.

Thanks for your feedback. Did you jailbreak it or using the fire 10 as it is?

Edited/corrected because I mixed up the pricing between iPads. Sorry for the confusions folks.

Maybe for people who just want a browser, Netflix, Amazon and a small selection of other apps. For everyone else 64gb is too small. This is where the 128gb iPad Air on sale for $500 becomes worth considering because not only do you get double the storage, but you also get the m2 chip which is a pretty substantial upgrade vs the $400 256gb model 10.

Still, if you can make the $200 iPad 10 work for you, it's an incredible value now that it has stereo speakers. The bummer is that the next step up on iPad 10 is 256gb, so there's not much chance of that dropping below $300 this holiday season.
I thought this was a perfectly sensible and helpful post. No clue why others downvoted you.

We use it as is. We mostly stream Disney+ and all the freeware kiddie games and apps keep them happy enough. It doesn't have a YouTube app but at their age we don't let them search for videos freely anyway so we don't need it.

Will probably upgrade the oldest kid to an iPad when they hit 10.

Is 64 gb enough storage???
Depends on your use case, but it should be enough for most folks unless you're planning to install many games or store a bunch of photos, videos, music locally (which isn't usually needed because of the ability to stream these things).
