If these are from the States, full of artificial junk including Red 40 (like most candy/cereal here). Germany does not allow HFCS and artificial dyes. I happen to come across both at once so my family did a blind taste test out of curiosity. Everyone could tell which was which, and all preferred the European version.

Interesting. My mom always was afraid of red food coloring when we were growing up. She was an avid reader and read all about colors. She was way ahead of her time, I guess. I am 71 years old, so this was a long time ago.

This was likely red no 2. There was a lot of fear around this back in the 1950s. The US has since banned it as it's proven to cause cancer in high doses, interesting enough Red no 2 is still legal and regularly used in Europe and Canada

You're not wrong that it's a waste of plastic. We've gotten these before and each pouch has five gummy bears. Also the packs read "Made in Turkey".

So even the German ones use corn syrup now. That's disappointing.

The Made in Turkey versions are halal* because they use beef gelatin instead of pork-based gelatin.

You are correct. Red40 is suspect of causing adhd. These colorings have more in common with industrial waste than they do food.
This is eating trash.
