If you're ok waiting 10 weeks to borrow a popular book for 3 weeks, which you won't be able to finish in time. Honestly it bugged me so much that I was willing to pay audible for books 2 and 3 in the trilogy.
use libby and hoopla to borrow audiobooks at the library for free
100% agree! But those two sites don't always have the entire series and are slow on some new releases, at least for my local library. The one credit/every two months plan lets you finish that last book, especially cheaper if you find them on a 2-for-1 sale like this!
If you know of a way to add another library without living there, I'd be interested to know.
I also just noticed I have a "use 3, get 1 free" credit promotion, which brings the cost down further

Super useful to have the library subscription, but it's also important to note that Amazon also has exclusives and has been adding graphic audio dramatized books that are also exclusive (across those two platforms). Andrew Weir's Hail Mary is an exclusive and 100% worth the price (not saying it's in this sale).
Also, the waitlist sucks depending on where and they don't have anything.
It's okay to subscribe to Audible for a month, cancel, then come back another time when there's a deal.
New or Select Returning Members: 3-Months Audible Premium Plus Membership + $20 Audible Credit for $0.99/month https://slickdeals.net/f/17902614
Yep - just cancelled my last free sub a few weeks ago and was able to get this new offer, immediately got in on 2-1 and used some of the $20 credit where the 1st book in a series was part of my 2-1 order and the 2nd book was on sale for ~$7.

I actually dislike the dramatized versions and have gone back to buying regular ones especially since sometimes they split it into two books

You can also fill in some gaps by borrowing ebooks, which Alexa can read to you if you don't mind her voice. Or use text-to-speech if you have a Kindle with that capability. A little clunky, but another free option. Still, the bimonthly credit on Audible is a decent deal considering the Audible Plus content it also includes. But it's easy to accumulate more books / audiobooks than one can consume in a lifetime; that's when it pays to be very selective and don't be afraid to DNF.

296 Titles and 2 available credits.
This is how they add up over time, with 2 for 1 deals and 3 of 4 yearly subscriptions and countless free trials and 99c sales. There's also 1000's of free content with the Plus account.
No Idea why I would need Libby.

I use Libby to trial books I'm iffy on based on audible reviews; I bought a few that I liked (to finish), but I'm glad I listened to a lot of best sellers to know I shouldn't waste my credits on
Edit: so…any recommendations? This selection seems to have a lot of trending titles.

makes sense for those cases but in the past i've been burned w/ too many credits and not enough book ideas. the points rack up quickly.
