Traeger tends to be overpriced compared to some competitors. How do these discounts fair?

I've had a Traegar in the past, I didn't like the heating element in the middle because I felt like it caused an uneven cook and would have to move the protein around to keep the cook even on it…but maybe it was just me.

What do you guys recommend for a good smoker? I was looking at the Kamado joe and these. I was also told pit boss is better, any truth to this?

FWIW, I got my Traeger 780 off this site for 500 shipped from walmart. As someone who likes to bbq, this thing really takes the guess work out of making some amazing stuff. I can smoke a brisket for 16 hours without worrying about messing with the fuel. I get compliments about my tritips all the time and the best part is that there's little work involved. Cleaning it is so easy with a shop vac and the replaceable foil sheets and cups for grease. My favorite thing to smoke besides a big brisket cook is a nice rack of lamb fat side up. Highly recommend! If you're a BBQ purist (dork) who is submitting their cook for competition, you'll probably want to control more of the variables. But for your layman, it's perfect. I also like the wifi capability so I can control the temp from inside. One thing to consider is that it needs to be plugged in, so it might be closer to your home vs out in the middle of the backyard and the smoke smell will make it's way into the house inevitably.

Bought it earlier from Best Buy for $500 and Microsoft Shopping had $98 back. Checked out with PayPal and activated 5% back from them.

If you want something easy a gravity fed charcoal smoker is a good choice as well.

Using mine right now for the last time before I toss it. Too many broken parts in 3 years, too many fires. This is the masterbuilt 560 not the traeger

$499 for the larger Pro 34 is not the normal price. It's usually $699

The smaller Pro 22 is usually $499, now its $389.

Not really. Larger learning curve and the traegar basically has zero learning curve. Fill the hopper, set the temp, check temp w probes, come back when done, dinner. You get about 80%-90%(with a smoke tube) of an offset smoker flavor and 95% less bullshit. Buy the traegar, smoke stuff w a smoke tube (or two) and forget anyone that says buy a kamado for smoking. Kamado is OP af for searing, smash burgers and pizza anything else is easier to do on a pellet smoker. Sure, after a long learning curve you can smoke just fine in a kamado or offset, it's just not worth the time to learn when you want food now. Just buy both, use them for what they do and relax.
