Can anyone help me determine what level would be best for me? Personally, my biggest goal is claiming free games every month. Are the higher levels worth it?
Cheapest is the best for the free games, I have had premium for a while and honestly I rarely play the classic games. Premium is cool for demos, now streaming portal without using your ps5 and also for the games classic catalog but again, if you only play current games, then is not worth the premium

Lol oh it's worse for me -- my renewal hits tomorrow. So even if it was valid, just that 1 day lapse and I'm totally effed for soooo many free games I've had collecting for a decade now. Ahem, sorry, "free".
If you let your sub lapse you don't lose all the games in your collection, they will still be there if and when you return to ps plus. So I would let your sub expire then take advantage of the deal.

First time subscriber, thinking of getting Essential just to play online (my 13 year old uses it the most). Anyone feel strongly about getting Premium instead?

So I have 26 days left, and I can't upgrade for a year, only for 26 days, what a load of garbage. It's like $4. What a ripoff.

Question. I have the highest tier. I want to downgrade to basic because I feel like it's not worth it. My account ends on Dec 1st. If I let it expire, on Dec 2nd will I be able to get the discount and also once it lapses and I get a new account, will I lose the basic PSN games I gathered over the years?

Does this work if you previously had PS Plus but canceled? I assume not.
Yes it does. I have a 1 month sub after my ps+ expired last month. I'm eligible for the offer.

So I canceled my renewal for essential subscription yesterday (current plan expires 12/16). Today it shows that I can renew essential for 20% off (63.99) for an additional year. I'll wait to stack with dollar general gc deal which will bring it down to around $54. That's doable for me.

I found an old code for ps membership that I had purchased a few years ago prior to the current ps plans being implemented. if i redeem it, it gives me a year of ps essential.
currently i dont have a membership. if I buy at this sale rate, would i still be able to redeem that code for an additional 12 months giving me 2 years or can I just get one 12 month subscription at a time? does anyone know

This is what happens when there isn't proper competition, Sony is a monopolist now. Raising price and honoring its loyal customers

So if they don't offer you a discount, will you not renew next time?
That's exactly what I did this service is way overpriced and the only way to get your message across is just do not pay it and be done with it. It's garbage.

Definitely do not recommend buying a Playstation gift card and especially from Amazon... I purchased a $75 card on November 13th and my daughter went to use it today and it showed already redeemed... after contacting Playstation I got nowhere, they confirmed it was redeemed on another account, told me I had to contact Amazon, the representative from Playstation did state he has received several of these calls lately. I contacted Amazon and went thru 2 different representatives and got nowhere, was told couldn't refund, nothing could be done, then finally spoke to someone in the leadership department (supervisor) who asked me to do a 3 way conference call since when she tried to do one on her end she kept getting dropped, so I did one and she was on hold for about 10 minutes, it took Playstation about 15 minutes to answer and by the time they got on the phone the leadership team/supervisor from Amazon was GONE! None the less Playstation told me the same thing and I had to contact Amazon back. I've spent 3+ hours so far and still no resolution! Its a total nightmare and DEFINITELY not worth the time and hassle to try and save only $7.50

So if I am not mistaken, (please correct me if I am) isn't one of the benefits of all of the PS+ plans having automatic cloud backups of your PS console saves? It is my understanding on the PS5 you can't just backup your saves to an external media like a USB flash drive. I am mostly disinterested in the other benefits of the paid membership, but I feel like this is the only way to ensure I have backups of all of my game saves in case of console drive failure. Am I wrong in my belief, or do those of you w/o PS+ just hope you never have drive failure and lose all of your save files? Could I be backing up my saves in another manner? Thanks!

I haven't read the whole thread, but it seems if you have an active sub but have turned off auto renew (ie canceled), you'll get the discount offer to buy another year without upgrading.

Sorry if this is known or YMMV. I was able to extend my active sub (was set to expire on 1/1/2025) for 2 additional years of extra for ~$100 each.

Edit: others have said they've canceled and still no deal for an existing sub. Worth trying but certainly YMMV.
