This is probably the best alternative to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. They were recently bought out by Canva, but things have been quiet. Going from version 1 to 2 cost money (usually cheapest during Black Friday). It took them many years until they released version 2.

How about patching? Do you know if they keep up with within version updates?

They do. I had v1, after trying GIMP, Inkscape, PhotoPea, and I feel like others; this was the most natural transfer for me from Adobe Creative Suite. I upgraded to v2 last BF (was $75 last year) and love it

I'm torn. I hate Adobe CC because of the annual fee and have Affinity V1 plus varius Luminar versions until their latest pricing scheme. So I finally bit the bullet last year getting Adobe CC with a BF deal. The single biggest difference to me was the AI generative removal tool, IMO it's the best one out there. That feature alone makes me think I'll be renewing CC again this year. Or is there a better generative removal tool out there that isn't CC that anyone could recommend?

If Canva bought them out, can we expect to see Affinity included with Canva plans at some point? I mean, they haven't done anything yet to incorporate Affinity into the Canva ecosystem, have they? But surely they're planning to?

Non-Profit and Education plans already include access to all of the Affinity Suite. No insight on Canva's plans for the future.

I didn't know about this either, but you can probably find links through here:

Affinity bought by Canva, Pixelmator bought by Apple. Adobe is going to be the only one left soon.

Just got a iPad 9th gen and the photo and publisher apps look worth it to play with. Wish the desktop versions were as cheap

Got this earlier this year when it was on sale. For under $100 it's definitely worth it. Having been using Adobe for over 3 decades, the transition wasn't bad on Photo . For Illustrator, takes a bit more effort.

It's not a bad transition with a bit of googling. You have to accept that they are just different programs. Hard to shake off decades of muscle memory.

For the price it's worth it for me. While it's not a majority of my professional work, it fits my workflow for the value.

Although Affinity is the best photoshop and possible illustrator alternative(I think linear is more like illustrator) They've strayed so far away from the industry standard UX of adobe products that it's always a pain when I try to use affinity due to the bloat of menus.

That being said for ipad usage these apps are better than adobe. I might purchase

I actually bought Affinity Photo for PC almost two years ago, and it suits my needs perfectly fine. I recently decided I wanted it for my personal and work Macs, but man, I didn't want to buy another version (for Mac) for 60 whatever bucks, and I've seen these deals before, so here I was almost at the end of my 6 months trial, and they went on 50% off sale again! Got the universal license this time. I only ever needed Affinity Photo, so far, but I'm not making the same mistake again, figured I might as well get them all, so when I eventually realize I want or need another product, I already have them. And partially, I want to support a company that still sells software, instead of getting you hooked on a subscription. I hope it lasts and Canva, being a subscription service, doesn't ruin the good thing.
