based on what I can see the slim doesn't come with all the tools compared to the V models. v8 comes with 5 different tool heads vs compared to the 2 for the slim.

Most of this looks like it came from Google's AI, which is wrong as often as it is right. The rtings link compares the V8 to the V12 detect slim, which is not the same as this model. It is bigger, more powerful, and more expensive. One of the things I didn't realize right away about Dyson is that all "V12" models, for instance, are not created the same. Every part of the model's name matters. To answer the original question, this is a lesser vacuum than the V8 and even the V6. This is really the price Dysons should be all the time to be competitive. The days of $500 or even $350 stick vacuums are over.

Good price, op. Picked up one from Bestbuy within an hour. Too bad no Amex offer to use to sweeten the deal.
It's $20 more from Dyson website + 12% cb from that site.

Have wanted a Dyson product for many years but always thought they were overpriced, this is not cheap but at least reasonable. Ordered from local brick and mortar best buy to help keep them in business and keep the competition going, specially since price on Amazon is $20+ and you only get the $229 price if you use the price match link - I say bull to that. BB even offered 1 day free shipping - but want to go in the store after ages and check out any interesting BF 2024 deals.

I think it's pretty clear that they're having to discount hard to stay competitive these days. I own a V6 and a Samsung Jet 60 and 75. The Samsung build design is better in my opinion, the release mechanism on my Dyson jams half the time. I bought both of those Samsungs for around ~$150 each.
