Having had one dash cam in my car that had a "super capacitor" in it for "durability" but yet ultimately failed; I'm hesitant to keep my dash cam on the windshield during the summer.

Anyone have a good mount that is easy to release/install the dash cam?

The high cabin heat must be killing dash cams because I'm not the only one who has had this issue. I have security cameras installed outside that have never failed. The difference is that they are not experiencing 120+ degrees like the dash cams will.

Before buying, I would suggest you look at the video from the YouTuber lifehackster. He had a dash cam from VIOFO and his wife was in an accident where she got hit and the camera stopped recording. It missed the point of impact and then it didn't start working again until she was already on the side of the road

Apparently it was only an issue with his and earlier units?

Is this true that hardwire uses less battery than the cigarette plug?

Great camera. Put one in my wife's car.

Got a new model for my car, DroneXC. Dash cam that live streams the video to my cell phone via 5G. So if the alarm goes off, it alerts me and I can pull up live video. The video is also automatically stored in the cloud. So if the entire car is stolen or they steal the dash cam, you'll still have the footage. Tracks the car via GPS too.

Yes, it's more expensive, but dope af.

I still have one i bought 5 Black Fridays ago that I haven't installed. I ended up going with a wolfbox mirror backup cam for the always on wide backup image.

Here's an album of my build https://imgur.com/a/lHNjUxl

Dronexc requires a subscription. No thanks.

I mean, all the unit cares about is that it gets the correct voltage. It has no awareness what the power source is. So your question is probably more routed in what the cigarette plug outputs and how much voltage it needs to step down.

Is the 4k version worth it and is it a big difference between the 2k version? Also what is the difference between 2 Ch and 3 Ch? I'm new to dash cams.

I've had a Viofo A119V3 installed for over 4.5 years and it's still working. Florida heat plus I use a windshield sun shade which almost reflects the sun into the camera. I've left that thing running 24 hours a day for weeks because I forget to turn it off or I'm traveling. It's been in temps as low as the 20s that I know of. Also you can remove these from the mounts if you want or you can get a suction cup mount setup.

I still don't see the external rear cam listed on Amazon. RWC200, it's on their website and on aliexpress.

Also just noticed the 329 and the capability to hook up an external SSD (assuming HDD too even though it specifies SSD). Plus 512GB microSD card support. Wish they'd up the older cam's supported size too. 1TB microSD is under $100.

Channels are just how many cameras it comes with. 2 channel has 2 cameras and 3 channel has 3 cameras. You can also buy a 3 channel capable Viofo dashcam and only buy the main unit. Then add the other cameras to it as your budget allows.

Thanks, in for 1 and repped. A quick question, btw. Do I REALLY need a VIOFO CPL Filter for this? I know it's not a new question, but people (including me) keep asking this. How different in real world with and without a VIOFO CPL Filter?
