Just a heads up. Best Buy will install this (front + back cameras) for $99. The dash cam can be purchased anywhere, it doesn't have to be from Best Buy.

Great camera. Put one in my wife's car.

Got a new model for my car, DroneXC. Dash cam that live streams the video to my cell phone via 5G. So if the alarm goes off, it alerts me and I can pull up live video. The video is also automatically stored in the cloud. So if the entire car is stolen or they steal the dash cam, you'll still have the footage. Tracks the car via GPS too.

Yes, it's more expensive, but dope af.

Ordered the A119. Lowest price ever. Thanks iconian! Just in time as a friend just bought a new car. I've been using 1080P dash cams from Aukey and Yi in the $40-$50 range purchased in 2019 and they've worked flawlessly. Police officer ruled in my favor and wrote up the report favorably for a rear-end collision. I didn't even have a rear dash cam module, but he noticed the impact in the front-facing model I had. In another car, the police officer saw footage of two cars displaying road rage. One of the cars side-swiped my car and the police immediately ruled in my favor and wrote up reckless driving tickets for the two idiots. Every once in a while, check the camera to see that it's working, and reformat the MicroSD card once a month, and you'll be good to go. The dash cam market has caught on its popularity and they have jacked up their prices. A $40-$50 model will work just as well as a $200 model. You're paying for bells and whistles for the $200+ models in my humble opinion. The only reason why I spent more for the A119 is my friend wanted the name brand at the lowest price.

Thanks, in for 1. A quick question, btw. Do I REALLY need a VIOFO CPL Filter for this? I know it's not a new question, but people (including me) keep asking this. How different in real world with and without a VIOFO CPL Filter?
i literally just bought this last week and installed it, will buy and return to amazon for $ difference. i have the 229 pro and came with a filter, the filter works well with sun glare and i presume as well for nighttime lights or from on coming traffic.

For the A229 Plus, can I wire it to my rear view mirror on a Honda Odyssey or do I need to get the hardwire kit that goes to the fuse box?

There's a 20% off promo on the HK4 hardwire kit w/ taps when paired with the A229 Pro 2/3CH. Problem is I can't seem to trigger it with both items in cart. Anyone get it to work?

Having had one dash cam in my car that had a "super capacitor" in it for "durability" but yet ultimately failed; I'm hesitant to keep my dash cam on the windshield during the summer.

Anyone have a good mount that is easy to release/install the dash cam?

The high cabin heat must be killing dash cams because I'm not the only one who has had this issue. I have security cameras installed outside that have never failed. The difference is that they are experiencing 120+ degrees like the dash cams will.
it's just poor design or lemon units. I had a front and rear super capacitor dashcam on my and my wife's black with black interior cars in AZ for 5yr and they didn't hiccup. it's getting way above 120F in those cars during the summer.

I'm running the A229 plus in my new car I got this last summer, wish I could tell ya if it was going to hold up.

I did mount them with static stickers for semi-easy removal. Also the A229 mount for the front has a slide clip so you could take it off regularly but that would suck.

Same "tech" in polarized sunglasses vs nonpolarized sunglasses. Helps with glare and while it is not necessary but it does have benefits.

Apparently it was only an issue with his and earlier units?
Same thing happened with me in 2017 . It was the 119 model. Basically it recorded before and after the accident. The card was fine no corruption.

Before buying, I would suggest you look at the video from the YouTuber lifehackster. He had a dash cam from VIOFO and his wife was in an accident where she got hit and the camera stopped recording. It missed the point of impact and then it didn't start working again until she was already on the side of the road
Omg yes I just saw this I reached out to VIOFO they asked me to send in this model and instead they gave me 2 A119 mini 2. I would rather have it record on 2 separate SD cards then one. Watch this video he does a great job explaining why you should have two separate of one recording both front and back
