It's way cheaper right now than Amazon Basics. Same amount and delayed release is 15.00

Here is the link, and there's a 25% coupon available for S&S, but OP's deal is still much better.

Only $5.39 with S&S. Why isn't that the deal mentioned? Or did that just get added?

This stuff is so bad for you long term, and hard to get off of once dependent. Definitely something to do some deep diving on before committing.

You're right. The issue with GERD is that once the throat is irritated it's tough to determine what is causing the irritation. You basically need to calm things down to figure that out and that's where the anti-acid meds help. I hate to harp on it but lifestyle changes are something you need to figure out. For me I took a couple strengths of an Rx med for around a year before tapering off. In that time I discovered that, for me, eating too near bed was the biggest culprit.

What's the tapering process like ? Wonder if I should suggest my dad try it

It's remarkably difficult, I say this as someone who has suffered with terrible GERD. Especially since if you eat the wrong thing afterwards it's agony.
It's been a decade since stopping, and was told Omeprazole caused my body to raise the stomach acid levels in my gut and risks of stomach cancer. Sure, it "fixes" everything, at first. But, I won't go back at all. So I eat less, eat smarter with my diet choices, avoid soda and breads, and drink mainly water.
It wasn't great at first, but your body adapts and I'm eating better. Plus it beats the cancer risks from Omeprazole. And it won't fix the damage or quickly reverse the high acid levels your body starts to counter Omeprazole, but what can you do but let the gut repair itself. REALLY, really slowly. 🥴

Should your dad do it? Depending on his health I would say give it a try, but it's not easy so expect difficulty as you come off of it. I stuck to white rice and eggs. You'll make the mistake a few times, but the punishment is so bad you'll eventually learn.

Have your last meal around 5 or 6 pm. Don't eat until 11 AM the next day. Keep that window of eating narrow and far from bedtime, and your stomach will get much better. Also try to figure out what foods bother you.

Lastly, start some probiotics. I drink kefir water that I make at home, and I take a probiotic pill every day. I no longer need protonix or omeprazole. Six months ago, I was suffering horribly.

I was shocked. These actually have a little better reviews than Amazon Basics.
