Saying all that, I think these DeWalts would be an upgrade purely because the frame sticks out away from the lens, so just through typical handling and falls to the ground etc they're not going to get as chewed up Even though they're probably just typical soft lenses but the manufacturer decided not to harden. The $10 bircen plastic glasses with lighter color high transmission lenses work great and are very scratch resistant, but I don't know if they meet safety requirements for safety glasses.
