I'm remodeling and electricians are currently here. I want Diva dimmers, and since I'll have physical wiring available for any 3-way switches, it's the Claro Accessory Switch that makes more sense? Rather than this?

Claro accessory would make your light switches more consistent (since it looks similar to the Diva). Some people care about that, others don't.

The Claro accessory switch is only paired with the diva smart dimmer. You would only need the accessory switch with multiple locations. So if you have multiway locations, you would need one diva switch plus the Clario accessory switch for the remaining n-way gang/boxes. (Claro accessory is useless without Diva or Claro)

Edit : I see the claro is also available.. it's just a smart switch no dimming on the physical switch.

I don't think Claro has dimming?

Can the dimming function be "ignored" on this? Or is there a better choice for what I need?
I want to replace the standard wired switch for our home gym with this one then have multiple Pico Paddle Remotes be used on far entry doors.

You can set it to max and never touch it, but it will be functional.

Also, Claro is the smart switch without dimming. $60 at HD

If you can physically wire the switch, you can use a regular 3-way switch, Claro Accessory Switch or Pico.

1) Regular switch will only turn on current setting. So if you have dimmer on 50% that's what you get when you flick the other switch.

2) Claro gives you current setting, but if you double tap on it gives 100%.

3) Pico works same as Claro but uses a coin battery. You can put these anywhere. They work fine but I definitely don't recommend them in outdoor cold weather settings because of the battery. Sometimes an extra Pico comes in handy.

If you're just starting, you'll also need the hub. Lutron Caseta Diva is the way to go. It's wireless but *not* WiFi so it's fast and doesn't have connection issues.

Got it. Thanks. So there would be one main location with a Diva dimmer that controls the "dimmed" setting via the slider, and the Claro Accessory would be able to turn the light off, turn on at max brightness, and turn on/restore to the dimmed setting of the other switch?

Thanks! This bundle seems quite good for me just starting out? I'll have to pick up a few more stand-alone Diva dimmer switches and at least 4 Claro Accessories. Trying to find the most economical config based on their bundles/packages that come with multiple items.

edit: Appears that Home Depot is also matching the deal in this thread.

Can you change the color of the physical switches? I need a grey or black.

Just push the wire in the back and use the wireless. Think forward.

I almost effed up my 4 way wiring and caught it the day before the sheet rock went up. This would have gotten me around it. I don't use any of that wiring now with the casetta switch and pico remotes.

Where these really shine is when you are all sheet rocked and realize the kitchen switch is in a horrible spot. So on a 3 gang box I stuck the remote to the sheet rock, got a 4gang cover. You can't tell there's no box, it just looks like a 4 gang switch....and we have a switch right where we needed it.

Yeah that's a decent deal. I like the Pico paddle switches a bit better than the 'classic' one because it's more familiar but it has less buttons/functions/options.

I'd probably start with that kit and maybe pick up a couple of these if you think you can use the paddle picos.

Amazon also sometimes has the Claro Accessory Switch open-box for a few bucks less. I bought the 'new' one and got a used one anyway. It's frustrating the Claro is so spendy.

I just noticed the also sell just a Claro which I think is the same as a Diva without the dimmer. "Claro Accessory Switch" is what you need for a 3-way with a Diva.

I have all my exterior lights turn on at 30% brightness 15 minutes after sundown and turn off at 10. Works great.

Make sure your electricians shut the power off, if they hot connect these, they don't always work. Also, make sure they look at the wiring diagram otherwise they'll tell you the switches are broken.

So a Claro switch could work as the main wired one and the pico paddle remote can be "tied" to it?

Ya - I think these came out within the last year or so. $30/ea. Still expensive in the scheme of things but it will maintain aesthetics.
