Promo isn't even live before Nov 29. How did you even tried it?

Are you just talking about paying with GC? That's completely irrelevant to the actual question.

Apple usually sells Airpods at a much higher price than retailers. $249 right now, compared with $159 at a number of sellers (Amazon, Best Buy, etc). It would be kind of silly if they were offering a $50 Apple gift card to compensate for a $90 higher price tag. But the info about price matching helps a lot. If they do that for other retailers' Black Friday prices, then a $50 gift card would make a big difference. I use those to pay my monthly iCloud storage fees.

sorry for digressing, but a question regarding the Apple Gift card. Apple has 2 different types of Gift cards, one for purchase of physical items; another for iTunes, movies ...

Anyone know which Gift card is provided?

The post is not talking about paying with GC. You can always do that. The post is about this exact deal where you get a GC when buying specific products.

There are no more 2 types of gift cards, not for a few years. You only have Apple gift cards now, for device, services and everything else.

Actually, there are three types of Apple Gift cards:
Apple Gift Card has multi color Apple image can be used for any purchase at Apple

Apple Store Gift Card most of these are blue with white apple image
for iTunes apps etc...

App Store & iTunes Gift Card solid gray or white or silver or gold + matching apple image
physical goods at apple store (or online) Can't be used for iTunes ....
