Then why post as if it were an equivalent product/solution?

WiiM Ultra was on sale, too, so I picked that up from Crutch and the 2 channel Monolith amp from Monoprice.

Great product, I have no issues with WiFi unless it's quite far from your AP/Router. Audio features are great and HDMI arc to the tv is good but not the 5.1 receiver/ stream you may be looking for. Great for a couple in ceiling speakers to tie into. I have multiple Pro/Pro Plus streamers and they all work great.

I'm in for 2 for the bedrooms. Small form factor removes large amps too.

Does picoreplayer support casting? I use YouTube Music and haven't found any streamers other than WiiM that support it (other than my Chromecast audio).
Via bluetooth yeah. Or airplay. I wouldnt doubt it supports chromecast too. Good list of features it supports here: https://www.picoreplayer.org/land...tures.html

Won't you also need an amplifier to actually power the speaker(s)? Or are there DAC/amps?
Correct. You'll need an amp. My bad forgot that. If you have a receiver connected to your HT setup that'll work too. I have 3 12 channel Niles amps (all purchased used via ebay. Runs usually $200 which is steep but you get 12 channels) powering my whole house with these. Been great.

im using a fosi amp connected to 2 in-wall sonance speakers and i just bluetooth to it. anyone compare that method vs this for streaming music? i guess wifi over bluetooth. but then someone said it needed ethernet. hmmmm
I have this amp hooked up to a pair of in-wall sonance as well. It has Bluetooth and wifi options, as well as HDMI, and optical. AirPlay connectivity was flaky the first few weeks where it would decide to stop connecting until a full reset was done. But it's been better recently (don't know if unplugging from HDMI somehow played a role). But mines still on wifi, not hardwired.

I would recommend you hardwire it. Otherwise it disconnects from WiFi and you sometimes have to power it off to reconnect.

All my other devices beside it would stay connected to WiFi (and the WiFi router was about 25 feet away).

It turned into a great product once i hardwired it.

Man, if Wiim supported Netflix and Hulu and the other video streaming apps, it would slay the market.
