This is a Xbox "Expansion" drive; Not a standard SSD. A 990 Pro SSD will not be able to play Xbox series X|S directly off of in from a USB enclosure.

You don't care because someone just told you exactly why you should care so now you're doubling down on your nonsensical take in a discussion about a hard drive that you proposed, even though it won't work for the purposes that people are buying it for. Well done. Just stop. For people who know what this does and why that is actually important, they will consider this "deal". Your SSD doesn't help anyone.

Understand your feeling, every XBox user feels the same too. Unfortunately unlike Sony, the folks at XBox went in the direction of a proprietary expandable stick that was overpriced for the storage they added. It has come down significantly from the launch prices, but is still quite a way to go compared to the standard storage like M.2 modules.

So it is what it is as of now, of you own an Xbox Series X/S and want to expand storage, one of these overpriced sticks is the only option. Unless you want to switch ship to PS5 just because it supports cheaper, open standard SSD.

I started going back to PCs and skipping consoles because of issues like Xbox's monopoly on storage. Charging $250 for 2GB is ridiculous, even at $185, it's still way overpriced for what is provided.

A respectable deal given its sale price. I would prefer PlayStations option which is to add much cheaper hard drives. My ultimate solution was to buy fewer games.

Yeah I ended up paying $225 thinking it was the best price at that time. This is a good price. Keep in mind this is proprietary format - so there's that. I know Crucial makes something like this - but only 1 TB.

How would you transfer data between these cards when you own only one Xbox? I'd upgrade from 1TB to this 2TB but not sure on how that works

No easy way as far as I know. You would need to plug in the new 2Tb and move all internal data to the 2tb. Then plug in the 1TB and move that data to the console internal storage. Then plug 2TB back in and move data where you want it. Or maybe use a different 1TB+ USB HD/SSD if you have one?

It just plan smarter to buy a mid or high price pc and upgrade the video card and get higher frame rates. In my opinion even a new i7 cheep pc can match or beat a xbox X Specs except bandwith in memory . Not only that the games are way cheeper on via cd keys and smartcdkeys then xbox over price games xbox store. I would rather spend more $$$ on things that will actually make gaming better and faster then over pay for 2tb.

Good advice but too late … we already got Xboxes 😒. Gotta work with what we got at this point.
