This thing will get a lot cheaper soon. That is because the R6 III is rumored to be ready, waiting to be released in early 2025. The R6 III will likely have better AF, faster sensor readout, better video specs. The R6 II is a great camera, of course. I wouldn't be surprised to see some really nice deals on it by Canon on BF, if you can wait a week.

R6 II is not even old as of now, it has just been 2 years, so I wonder what changes they will push to R6 III. I expect minor only. I bought this last year and have been happy coming from Canon EOS 70D before.

I know. Crazy, right? Canonrumors.com has the expected specs: still a 24Mpxl sensor only, but with faster readout, better AF (the same as the R5 II's), better video specs, etc.

I don't use it for video anyway, and the autofocus on Mark II is pretty good. I hate that Camera brands are going incremental routes with quick releases like phones with software processing. I upgraded my camera after almost 10 years.

Canon didn't used to do updates every two years. Only every 4-5 years. But Nikon released a competitor to the R6 II that has much better video specs than the R6 II and the A7 V is also cming soon.
The good news is, the R6 II already has great AF. The R6 III may add some AI features. AI is the flavor of the month now.
I might buy an R6 II refurb in the Canon BF sale if the price goes low enough. It'll definitely be more than good enough for me. I also hardly ever shoot video and couldn't care less about 6K 60fps.

I know we are discussing Canon here, but wondering if anyone of you have heard any rumors of Sony releasing 200-600mm version 2?
If there is nothing in the pipeline, I am planning to get the 1st version from Greentoe by this black Friday. Hope I can get one for $1600 out of the door from them. Last time I tried, they did not go down from $1700 (about 6 months ago).

It won't. The R5 hasn't dropped below last years lows since the release of the mk2.
I bought the deal. I am a first-time buyer on Greentoe. I received the R6 Mark ii within days from an authorized Canon reseller. It is brand new and has a USA warranty as described. I am very satisfied.
