Just returned our gateway this am. After a big outage earlier this week, this AM we woke to no internet. Tmo pushed an update to our gateway and bricked it. Our billing cycle starts on the 20th. Today is the 21st, they said they will cancel it next bill cycle - $46.45/mo for a service that barely worked and now I owe an extra month for a service I can't even use. Before the outage and before they bricked our gateway, it was pretty rough to use it. We could see speeds in the 70mpbs range at most, but it would drop and doing a zoom call across it was not feasible.

Did this last year for a free 43" Fire TV and fought them for 6 months and never got the TV rebate I followed all rules on. Be careful

A 4 series 43" is more of the "current" model, while they still sell the 2 series for ~80$ less at 150$. Just a general idea on value / recency of what you are getting.

Anyone using this as a hotspot in the car?
I use it for roadtrips and power outages. Plug it into a lithium battery portable power station and it works great.

Those days are long gone. You now have to be on a different plan to do that and the home internet is just that, home internet. They obviously know where it's at and you will be shut off.

Same for me. TV never came. CS was very unhelpful.

I'm on a plan from 2021, insego device, business class plan at 50/mo. I'm on the road 200+ a year (currently in Tampa) - it works well 70% of the time. It is affected by traffic (other phones). There are times it's a rocket >500mbs, and for me the upload is more important and I've seen >300mbs. Most of the time it's usable - even driving for a zoom. I've kept it - and I've three phones (one on each), and a plethora of iPads with sims. For me (insurance adjuster) - it's worthwhile. I use it in the hotels about 90% of the time as well - no dealing with the typical hotel wifi bs. decent alternative to starlink, especially at 80mph on the highway.

The service is incredibly unreliable even in a very urban environment. We had it for a year and switched back to fiber

Yeah I couldn't rely on mine for home internet. At morning and evening peak times, they give priority to cellphone traffic and the speeds drop considerably.

Tried this last year and never got the free TV email. But I'm not complaining because I think my total bill went DOWN after getting the Internet 🤷🏻 ♂️
