The fact that I'm considering buying a 3 1/2 year old graphics card says a lot about the current state of the GPU market. I suppose this is the collateral damage from crypto and AI.

That card has 16 GB. But most people don't need that much memory at that performance level, making the 6700 XT the better buy.

It's around 7-8% faster, but the power consumption is about 30% higher.

Price wise, you're getting 7-8% performance for 7.5% in price increase, which is solid.

True, but for certain uses, like running your own local large language models, the size of the vram is more needed than the gpu's power performance. Some models 70billion and up won't even load or run on gpu's without enough vram, and I'm sure not most people can afford nvidia overpriced 20-24 gb gpus.

rx 6800 is 340
https://www.newegg.com/xfx-speeds...D2CKAG1769
it's around 20-25% faster than the rx 6700 xt
and has 16gb vram
if you get 2 digital $100 newegg gift cards (for 180, 10 off each), you can save another 20, getting the 6700xt for 250 or the rx 6800 for 320

It will vary depending on the model, the games tested, resolution, and the computer build. You're just splitting hairs.

If you're aiming for 4K gaming, the 6800 is the bare minimum I'd recommend, as it shines over the 6700 with its additional 4GB of VRAM. At 1080p, it's only 12% faster, but the performance gap increases to 17% at 1440p and 24% at 4k.

I'd hold off until the next release, expected in early Q1, unless it's intended as a Christmas gift.

Do what foreversleepy (URL) recommended above and get the 6800. If that's too expensive, I would get the 6750 XT. It won't hurt for an extra $20. The gift card discount trick should work on both.

the retail market is pretty uncompetitive in this price bracket
the used market is great though
i am personally using a rtx 3080 10gb msi suprim x i picked up for 330 recently, i previously bought a zotac trinity oc 3080 for 300 and sold it for 330 once i caught a line on that suprim x

It will be cool if Strix Halo takes over the home LLM use case (configured with 24/48/96 GB of LPDDR5 "VRAM").

I am noob at this but is this a good GPU for video editing in Premier Pro? I am learning motion graphics and use After Effects as well. Or is there a cheaper GPU that I can get away with?
