Edit: Correction the 6700xt is 192 Bit which is even worse.

Edit - And AMD just released new drivers that really improve directX 11 performance on these. NON-RT performance is beating or on par with a 3070. But with newer cards just on the horizon, i would really recommend everyone to just wait, especially because ETH is merging too. These cards will fall in prices a lot in a few months unless something comes up and with rumors of even a 4060 beating a 3080 in performance, should just wait.
I suggest folks to go to YouTube and search for comparison videos between 6700 XT and 3070/3060 ti/6800 XT.
Lots of disinformation from this post and I don't even know where to start.
All I have seen is reports that XFX was apparently caught mislabeling parts in large shipments through customs. That might have just been a scheme to avoid taxes or avoid detection if they were dealing with crypto miners in China. Not saying those things are good either though and if a company is shady ...

Aside from the asinine comparison to the 6800 XT or 3080, this card was not intended for 4k rendering. Nonetheless, testing has shown due to the way the card uses L3 cache, the narrower bandwidth has not shown to be a limiting factor.

TLDR; "There's no sign that the L3 cache + 192-bit memory bus chokes the 6700 XT in realistic workloads."
Don't mislead people. Memory bandwidth is not the end-all for GPU performance.

Just as what you mentioned and as far as I know, there are 3 possibilities for XFX to mislabel those cards:
1. avoid taxes
2. refurbish mining cards
3. broken cards as source material. Seems impossible since the import of broken cards (considered as solid waste) had been banned starting from Jan. 1 2021 by China gov.
The announcement by XFX official only indicates they will not refurbish and re-sell the mining cards, I think that's a very poor lie which reveals the truth.
