Just try on metro website, no port in is required
Yeah, that worked! Just so I don't misunderstand, this will work the same as other metro deals? I pay for one month, don't turn on auto pay, and it the phone is mine to keep?

My current plan phone plan from the Edge expires on Jan. 2. Do you know how I would access the account after that? It currently requires me to input a code from a text to that phone in order to login. Come Jan 2, that line won't work anymore but I will have my tablet for a few days more, and then this new phone.

Also, since this phone is a deal because I have another line, will I be obligated to keep paying for the other line for longer?

All metro lines in one account share the same bill date, so if you don't pay your Jan 2 bill, you won't access your account. Your tablet/phone plan will also stop working at Jan 2 if you don't pay.
That's the tricky part, as long as your account is still active. You can put orders for additional lines, and when they are delivered, as long as your account is still active, you can activate those addtional devices. But if you don't pay and if you try to activate your new device after Jan 2, it will fail to activate.

So you have to activate your new devices before Jan 2 to make sure they will be unlocked in the future. You can activate them before they are delivered as long as they are shipped out.

oic. Ok, I won't mess with this. Sounds like I'd be on the line of maybe I'll get it, maybe not. I'm in the middle of some really stressful stuff that I'm losing sleep over (literally) and just in a bit of a rough way. I'm distracting myself with checking SD in between trying to deal with stuff, but adding something that might be an iffy problem is a bad idea for me atm. Thank you though, I'll know this for future.

I upvoted and I think this is a great deal if you don't have a foldable phone and want to try one. I didn't buy because I already have the 2023 version (also from metro) I guess people downvoted because they don't like the one year lock.

I don't know if this will work but I bought a moto edge a couple of month ago and it worked right out of the box with T-Mobile. It's a risk though as others were reporting that some phones don't work with T-Mobile until unlocked.
In the Previous thread for this deal someone tried it but it didn't work.
"Just popped in my Tmobile postpaid sim into a Razr 2024 and no go, the phone says "for emergencies only". I did connect to data for a couple of minutes to check the device unlock status and it says 180 days and some other verbiage"
If this phone worked with tmobile I would definitely do this deal. But I'm happy with the Edge

Where did you see the number of days for unlock?

I have a question, I understand it would be locked for a year but is it locked to the new number or just Metro? Otherwise, if I already have phones on a Metro plan, could I get this with a new number and then just switch phones between an old number and then this one, allowing the new number to cancel after a month?
I was thinking of doing the same exact thing and I'm pretty sure it's possible

Yes it is possible. You could even do it before the 1st month of service is done if you have a 3rd phone that is unlocked and or carrier locked to metro. Easier to do if all 3 phones have eSim capability but can also be done with physical sim.

Phone 1: Current Phone + Current Number
Phone 2: Razr + New Number with single month of service
Phone 3: Unlocked or Metro compatible phone.

>Step One. Login to metro account on desktop that manages Phone #2 (Razr). Find the 'Switch Devices' option. Put in info for phone #3. Follow the steps to transfer your line to phone #3.
>Step Two. Verify that phone line has been moved to Phone #3 by making a test call and sending a text. Delete eSim from Razr.
>Step Three. Login to metro account on desktop that manages Phone #1 (Current Phone). Find the 'Switch Devices' option. Put in info for phone #2 (Razr). Follow the steps to transfer your line to phone #2 (Razr).

Since metro doesn't really send veirifcation message to the number you want to switch, so actualy you can switch device with only 2 phones, all you need is a third "IMEI" as a temp holder.

In this case, since the razr support dual sim, actually you can do this:

0. Suppose you activated your razr with esim which is using imei2 of razr
1. Switch your old number to razr imei1 with your old physical sim.

That's it, you can just disable your razr esim if you don't plan to use your new number.

My S23 FE from last year work out of the box for T-Mobile also. But all other phones I got from them don't.
Motorola Edge 2024 will work with T-Mobile regardless of unlock or not.
