Not sure how well 1/2 will work for longer spans. I have regular clamps for up to 2 ft and use these with 3/4 5 ft pipes. Slightly pricier clamps and pipe, but not too heavy to handle and i don't worry about bending it. And don't be like me, check how much iron pipes cost nearby before you buy the clamps

I second this, 1/2 is too flexible for longer spans, and even for shorter spans they arent much cheaper than using the 3/4 setup. Pro tip: 10ft lengths of black pipe are not a whole lot more than 3-6ft lengths. Buy the 10ft and get a couple clamps out of it.
