Once you use a pair of higher quality binoculars, you can see what the price difference gets you. I got a pair of bushnell legend ultra hd in a deal 5 years ago and took them with several smaller models for the kids to Yellowstone/Custer state park. Better optics are easier to use and just so much clearer. And low light performance is massively different.
If you are getting them for a child or a teenager that isn't going to take care of them the original deal is fine. To me for good outdoor viewing these $100 bushnells are where I'd start https://a.co/d/hDiVn7O Vortex has some quality $100-$200 binoculars that can go on sale.
The jump in clarity from going to the above $100 price is the best value. After that you get into diminishing returns as the prices soar towards $1k. Those you better be using daily on a ship or in a professional use case.

Vortex Optics has some deals pop up often, if you don't need these now keep an eye out for those. One of the best warranties, great customer service, and have good entry level products around this price range.

The person that mentioned the $100-250 sweet spot for a good set of binoculars is spot. And under $50 is fine if its for someone who won't care about quality or who will wreck it.
I recently made the mistake of spending $80 last year on a pentax binocular and now I'm already trying trying to get rid of it. It was nice and lightweight for a Yosemite trip last year, but I regret not splurging more initially but I didn't know better last year. Which is why I made the comment I did earlier.
There has been a lot of advancements in good optics in that price range. I got set of a Athlon Optics Argos G2 HD's (12x50) myself and I was comparing a lot of traditional Nikon/Bushnell brands with other folks during my recent trip to Yellowstone and was floored by the difference in quality over the older brands. I was able to see a lot of wildlife that others could not with their cheaper sets which had much more limited field of view. Attached a few examples of pics I [imgur.com] took just holding my cell phone next to my binoculars without a tripod.
From what I've heard Vortex, Athlon Optics are relatively similar in performance/quality so gould easily recommend one of those.
