It does. Sorta. I'm using the book cover one (the expensive one) from my s8 ultra on my so ultra. They slightly moved the camera module so it doesn't close completely (the top portion with the pen) but it does "work" just fine. It'll tell you that accessory is not made for it but it works fine. You can always cut the whole from the tablet just a bit and it'll fit
You are right from "is it a better device perspective." But i may bite because there are some improvements even if insignificant. but more importantly it preserves trade in value and is a new device vs my s9 which is old. Plus with cash back from CB sites it kind of makes sense.
I have the 8, and I can't imagine switching especially with the change in the keyboard I guess. It's frustrating that they changed the keyboard one year apart. If it was the same keyboard it would be much more tempting.
I have an s8+ and lowest i can get is 339, I'll wait for a better deal

Edit: No EPP for me. Keyboard price I got confused. $714 after tax hard pass
But less efficient CPU so probably it is a wash even after a year. Samsung botched this release, it was supposed to use the new exynos but that turned out to be pretty weak so they had to do a "last minute" switch so they took last gen mediatek CPU which while ok is a year old when it releases and I am not convinced is actually better than 8 gen 2 in S9 Ultra. I am in the same boat and decided to wait it out and get S11 Ultra if they go back to snapdragon. I mean if you are charging 1000$ for a tablet you should put the best available CPU in it.
That's exactly what I did. I carefully dremmelled the camera cutout so that it flaps shut. Problem solved.
