Don't let this confuse you with an actual NAS

To clarify slightly further. Yes this is a DAS not a NAS. Adds storage to a PC, not to your network. Cheaper because it doesn't have the brains to run itself, it needs your computer.

Can you pls share and help me how to set these up for Plex, i was using a external 14TB drive on laptop which got full and looking an cost effective method to expand it further, pls guide Thank you
It boils down to these steps:
  1. Install your drives into this DAS
  2. Configure the jumpers on this DAS to tell it how to represent all of the drives to the operating system (JBOD or other RAID configurations)
  3. Plug this DAS into your Plex server via the included USB cable -- at this point you'll need to use your Plex Server's operating system's tools to format the drive
  4. Copy the photos/audio/video onto this DAS like you would any other drive on the server
  5. Add or update your library definitions in your Plex server to point to the folders you have the media stored
  6. Refresh any libraries you added/updated
Many people overthink this -- this thing can be used like any external USB storage device but you bring your own bare drives to the picture here.

While true, its really wouldn't be much of a factor that each drive is limited to SATA II speeds as no HDD would ever saturate the SATA II max bandwidth. SATA SSDs would take a hit per disk but the benefit of RAID would outweigh that loss. The real bottleneck would be the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface.
Admittedly, even in this case the expected max throughput of a 7200RPM HDD is ~125-150MBps at the high end (likely more like 100), which would be (4*150*8)=4800Mbps < 5Gbps of USB 3.2 Gen 1 (I know, with overhead you're a little more likley to saturate at like 4.6Gbps). If you're just reading from the drive cache, you can certainly saturate this, but for larger reads you probably would only just be hitting the limit.

Modern high end normal server drives can reach max sustained write speeds of 258MB/s and even my older refurbished server drives with can reach a sustained 220MB/s.

Also correction on my end about no HDD ever saturating SATA II. Dual actuator drives can apparently reach over 550MB/s.

not sure if they have fixed it yet since i haven't looked lately but my tr004 goes to sleep far too often and takes a bit to wake up
I second this. I've had this for a couple years and that's my biggest gripe. It also seems to tie up the entire USB interface on my M1 MacBook Pro when it spools up, and it often happens when I'm not doing anything related to this external box, which is annoying. So I'll have to wait a few seconds while the mouse turns into a spinning wheel sometimes, at random moments.
