I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

Too complicated! How much does this cost for a new customer one line minimum plan?

Can the trade in be done at a store? And can you pick up the pixel in store? I'm worried about the phones being stolen in transit.

Thanks. Based on your comment I went ahead and ordered. Unlike the trade in document at checkout (that said expires on 11/23/24) the trade in document sent after completing the order says 12/22/24. So hopefully everything works out. 🤞

I don't think even the new T-Mobile would stoop that low. Guessing it will be changed and I think you have 20 day returns anyway.
Oh, they would, unfortunately. I traded in a Samsung just before the consolidation of the Sprint/T-mobile billing system. They stopped giving me monthly credits. It took 1.5 years of calls and letters to be "granted" a 75% refund of the missed out bill credits. However, based on another posters comment (https://slickdeals.net/f/17912769-t-mobile-google-pixel-9-on-us-via-24-monthly-bill-credits-when-you-trade-in-an-eligible-device?p=174054990#post174054990), I went ahead and placed the order. I'm actually pleased with the P6, but it won't get any more (feature) updates. The longer support period for the P9 is worth upgrading for me.

BTW, the deal worked with the Unlimited Kickstart plan (which I think was only available to migrated Sprint customers).

Trade in+eip+unlock policy is unfortunately the best offer, at least they didn't ask for go5g and new line only.
Feels like beggars can't be choosers situation.

Anyone have experience immediately flipping the phone? My parents have old iPhone 12 and were going to buy a new iPhone 16, if I can get the trade in for a pixel 9, I would like to flip the pixel 9 to reduce their cost of the iPhone 16.

Is there a lock period? Do I even need to insert the SIM and activate the pixel?

Can you point me towards this? I'm only seeing partial discount + credits, not covering the full price.

No need to activate.

They will unlock only paid off device. For that to happen it will be 24 months.

This also works for the Pixel 9 Pro, though then you're looking at about $200 after $8.33/mo for 24 months.

I might be missing something, but this actually seems like a better deal than the Google-direct sale, even if you had that 30% off coupon to use. For a 128GB P9P, I paid approx: $1,000 - $300 (30% off promo) - $450 (trade-in) + taxes = $310

Through T-Mobile (on a ONE plan), I'd be getting twice the storage at 256GB for just $10 more: $200 + $121 (taxes + activate) = $320
